why would I? One of these days someone will talk Scotland up and be correct (maybe)
![]() i think you have to look at the form of some of their higher profile players since the RWC tho. It has not been that encouraging, particularly in the backs and particularly the Glasgow boys ![]() |

By:
Since the RWC I would say everyone seems to be under performing apart from Waldrom who goes from strength to strength and obviously was no part of it.
I do like the way the Scots are shaping up,defiantly won't win now I've tipped them, but deficiently won't be the rollovers they have been over the past couple of years. I'd rather back them at 20's than England at 7/4. |

Must be a special market by the OP betting without Les Bleus

Why wasn't Joubert given a Scotland game ?
![]() |
|
By:
he is running the line for Scotland's trip to Dublin, need a front row seat for that one.
Glen Jackson is in charge at Murrayfield for France match, he made himself hugely unpopular with his dithering performance against Wales last year. Not quite to Joubert levels but he had a shocker. I would probably still rather have him than Clancy tho. |
|
By:
Nigel Owens only gets to ref 1 game in the whole tournament ?
That really is a strange one.. I cant understand why he really is the best on the world.. he needs to be on the field , not on the sideline |
|
By:
At the moment Doyle is the guy i like to see with the whistle. the fact you don't notice him as much has to be a good sign.
he's only got 1 game too. Not sure why when SH refs like Peyper & golden boy Jackson get 2. Really impressed with the attitude of the new Americas nations cup turning down the high profile refs for their matches. May back fire but as they pointed out how do they bring through new refs without exposing them to competitive matches. |

For What Its Worth:
Ireland - most settled back room staff and playing the kind of rugby the coach wants. Tough fixture list and if Sexton breaks there is little cover. Zebo not a 15 for me and think they miss Tommy Bowe on the wing lovely player with the knack of being in the right place at the right time. England - not a 7/4 shot for me. Lots new faces up front may take a game or 2 to get to grips with International rugby; however fixtures are kind. Ford in no form at the mo so Farrell starts? Lots of ability but this year one of exploration for coach captain and team. Wales - Most settled team/backroom staff in tournament. Solid up front good defensive organisation and exciting backs who do score tries. 1/2p is a big miss but Biggar developing into proper outhalf. My fav for tournament and a win in Dublin provides momentum for a possible Grand Slam? France - ffs who can tell? Getting rid of Basterau was about 4 seasons too late. New coach gone with typically French players who play off the cuff. Could surprise but think this year will be learning curve for them Scotland - Fragile front row may concede pens but exciting runners from deep and Cotter got them playing the right game. Competitive. Again momentum could build from a first up victory at the cabbage patch but will be on Scotland + handicap most games Italy - cannot rely on Sergio and Martin forever. Inexperience may find them out this term. Could be quite ugly dependent on what happens in Paris - will be against for the tournament. So in summary Wales to win it with small interest on Grand Slam. Scotland + whenever possible. Hope you all have a profitable 6 Nations. I cant wait |

I think England deserve to be favourites looking at the fixture list. They have arguably the easiest start and play both Ireland and Wales at home.
The game against Scotland may not tell us much, because as much as we all want to see an open game, the pitch and weather will dictate. The one thing about England is they know to win ugly as we have all seen. I respect the chance of Wales as they never know when they are beat and have a settled set up already in place. My worry is they will have to do it the hard way by winning in Dublin and Twickenham. I'm not sure France can be discounted. A lot will depend how they fare against Ireland 2nd game up and they have England at home in the final game. I will stick with England as winners the only bet for me at this stage is small stakes Anthony Watson top try scorer 10/1 general. I wouldn't want a bet at the prices but I think the bookies have it right with no Grand Slam winner. |

what is all this stuff about the pitch at murrayfield? it was 2013 they had all the problems with nemitoads, or whatever they are called, in the soil and it has been a new hybrid pitch since start of 2014. no beasties under it as far as i know. weather forecast says dry at the moment.
as for scotland's fragile front row, didn't you watch the world cup? front row did well, even against the boks. the fragile bit for scotland is between the ears. looking at the fixtures and the prices france look the value to me at about 7. a nice home opener against an italian side with injury worries who were in a bit of a transitional period anyway and another home tie v ireland next up. tricky fixture but a good chance to gain some momentum. 16/1 is certainly a sporting price for scotland, all about that first game tho. lose that and it will knock the confidence big time. they need a bit of luck with injury too as the squad is not that deep and paper thin in the centre pairing at the mo. |

By:
2 brief points ; I always worry when I see that Scotland matches are to be refereed by an Irishman . Maybe that is daft , but that's how I feel . And why no SRU registered officials involved in the 6 Nations this year ? Are they really that poor ?

I also meant to say that I fancy a small punt on No Grand Slam Winner .

Imo a very interesting "non selection" by Eddie with most of the same players from the WC (still cant believe Eddie didn't insist on being able to pick the foreign Englishmen before taking the job) and only a bit of tinkering. A brave new world must mean a huge change in tactics if he is going to use the same players
I said at the time that England really missed Hartley at the World Cup and I'm sure he will make a big difference. As far as the selection goes every man and his dog would have moved Robshaw to 6 Is Haskell really the answer at 7? Scrum half is pick your poison. Can't below Itoje and Daly aren't involved in some capacity especially Itoje as Lawes has a dodgy hamstring I thought he would blood the youngsters with a good excuse if they lost. Perhaps some of this lot have been set up to fail-after all you wouldn't pick Ford on form or goal-kicking and I'm not sure a brave new world begins with Farrell at centre. As for Scotland I'm still not sure the Australia quarter final can be taken at face value as imo the Aussies played at least 20 points below par and really don't know what to expect from England-the game will be intriguing. |

Forgot to say fwiw I actually like the chance of the French
|
|
By:
Same England can't find a 7 and have resorted to Mr James 'Weights for Dates' Haskell.
Shame Ashton isn't lining up; we would have the Holy Trinity to cheer on; Hartley, Haskell and Ashton. |

France under a good coach the last clown PSA was unreal bringing
in 8 uncapped players you just know France on the cusp of being a great Team. Nap France for 6 Nations |

Anytime try WP Nel for a try always worth a go at double figure prices at Murrayfield. Looks skinny for a tight head but there are plenty wingers would be glad to have his tries to games ratio. I also think he is definitely worth a go in top Scotland try scorer market at 25/1
Same goes for CJ Stander for Ireland, worth a dabble to be top tournie try scorer at 80 and top for Ireland too at 14/1. With O'Brian injured looks like they will be reliant on him for first couple of games at least and he is class and uber competitive so every chance he will keep his place imo. He scores a try in just over every 3 games in the pro12 so looks worth a bob or two at the odds. |

Nice to see some opinions from fellow formites(All most like the Old days)
I've backed Scotland, but as others have said they need a win today or I can basically bin my ticket. Personally I still couldn't have any faith in France even with a change of management(they've had a decent team on paper for a few years and failed to deliver) Still think Wales will win this(Boooooooooo) 6 Nations, and not long until Super 15 starts. Kid in a sweetshop |
|
By:
I must be one of the few who thinks Wales wont win either tomorrow or the 6N
|
|
By:
Agreed re CJ Stander. Think 6s anytime tryscorer is worth a dabble.
Have to say Ireland look terribly weak. SOB is a huge loss, on top of Healy and Henderson, 3 world class ball carriers. Zebo inspires no confidence at FB. No surprise all the money is for Wales. |

What price France look like coasting to a handicap victory by halftime only to get done by the odd point ?
Italy are stubborn and 21 points in International rugby is some ask. Having said that,I haven't had a bet ![]() |
