struggling to understand why the irish are favourites, their play so far has been one dimensional and obvious, can`t see blasting through the middle and relying on set pieces working against the French, who in contrast have looked very dangerous, you take a risk with the French but the value on the French price is to good to turn down, french win for me

unsure what caused obrien to punch that frog..................hes a country lad farmers son from co carlow...........tough as teak but had to be provoked........just isnt his nature................fcukin shame as he was coming back to his best..........
if sexton is out of quaters ireland and obrien is banned ireland should be 20s in outrights
sort of like a deja vue via wales predictment.
pity wales didnt pull it off after their immense effort but like ireland anyone would be a fool to write them off vis called it right when he said ire vs arg 3 pt match could go anyway
on tony galvins advice backed arg at 95 and 55 but fcuk it its the WC as im sure the english as host nation must be aware of and patriotically had a monkey with a mate saying ire would advance further than eng........which is a little consolition as england vs australia cost me 6000 in treble

Report bustino October 11, 2015 9:57 PM BST
looks like oconnel is out of tourny hes torna ligament.......irish independent reports sexton may be fit for saturday.........this could be a bad thing as i remember recently ireland played an unfit sexton and heislip in a big match both had shockers........if he is deemed playable i would prefer see him on the bench and only brought on if things start going tits up ,,,
im not condoning obriens action but as i said earlier what action provoked his reaction
Report Eeternaloptimist October 11, 2015 11:10 PM BST
Whatever it was may go some way in terms of mitigation but they are some way away from the ruck in question and Pape isn't giving it him at the time he takes a free swing into his solar plexus. Doesn't look good at all.

ya something to do with a previous encounter thiink hes kinda up s**t ccreek and aint got no paddle
Report curious-cat October 12, 2015 3:30 AM BST
I think O'Brien and the French player were running back to the play from a breakdown or something when a bit of jostling occurred ... it happened to me once though we were about 50 metres away :)
from where the play now was (we must have been on the bottom of a ruck)

it can easily develop into punches but in this case O'Brien missed out a few phases such as elbows, pushing and barging and went straight for a big one !
Report Ozymandius October 12, 2015 10:04 AM BST
It possibly relates back to last seasons 6 Nations when Pape's blatant knee to the back ended Heaslip's 6 Nations (and his own following a citing).

Still it was a dumb decision, the start of thing that can happen early on in a game if you are too hyped.  Fingers crossed for just a one week suspension.

it was a cheap shot and gross stupidity too.

Report northanlite October 12, 2015 6:31 PM BST
SOB not has not been cited after all then.
i think the way certain nations have been dealt with over citings compared to others is something there will be rumblings & grumblings about after the tournament has finished.
meanwhile the australian citing commissioner has cited two scottish players prior to their game with err....australia.
i'm sure the guy is honest as the day is long but was it really sensible to have an aussie doing that job for that match?
Report northanlite October 12, 2015 7:29 PM BST

but he will have to face the citing panel after all
