just taught id start a tread to get the views of those who follow the game more than myself.i know its a market that depends a lot on luck with staying injury free and getting selected to play the weaker teams and maybe getting 3 or 4 tries in one game but would still like to hear peoples views

Historically top try been won by wings/full backs. So a team going a long way with one of the back 3 starters for me. No value at the top of the market but Ireland should make the semis and Bowe/Zebo are their pace men depending on who makes the cut. Assuming Australia make it out of the group of death I can see Ashley Cooper notching a few and worth a punt at the price.

Much of it is guesswork. OK you can narrow it down but ideally want you want is your Eng/Aus/Wal winger playing v Uruguay, your SA winger playing as many matches as possible and your NZ winger also playing as many matches as possible but ideally turning up v Namibia.
Tries tend to dry up massively in the final and may also do in the QFs and Semis, so a long run from the team is much less important than getting tries on the board in the group matches e.g Ashton last time. |

very much agree with the above, a lot of guesswork as to how squads will be rotated and certainly not a market you would want to have the rent money on.
Only buttons matched on here so far and not all quoted. The books have all priced up tho, including as usual plenty who have not even been picked, although i guess they would be back ups. With Georgia, Namibia & Tonga to play one of the Kiwi flyers could have this wrapped up before the knock out stages start. They know how to put Argentina to the sword too. As a result prices are of course tight. Nehe Milner-Skudder might not be a first choice for those knock out stages but he got the nod on the wing in the recent Bledisloe cup matches and scored a brace in the first fixture. If given some game time against georgia & Namibia he is a finisher with serious acceleration. Although he has been a full back he now seems to be firmly a wing pick that can cover 15. It seems Hansen likes the kid so may well give him a chance to put his hand up for the latter stages in fixtures they really should stroll through. 10/1 generally although if by some miracle you can get more than about £1.27 on with pie in the sky bet they go a generous 16/1 (easy to be generous when you won't take a bet tho) At a much bigger price (40/1) Zebo for Ireland should get a decent amount of game time in the group games. he has been a bit injury prone & i know ireland have often made heavy weather of some of these games in the past but if not too burdened with expectation Canada, Romania & Italy are all very beatable. Italy had, supposedly, a strong team out v Scotland but were impotent in attack and clueless in defence. Scots were even bossing the scrum. Canada have had some poor results lately too and looked ordinary last week v a very 2nd string Glasgow Warriors side so Ireland should be able to rack up some tries in that group and Zebo is another good finisher. patriotic outsider bet is Tim Visser. it is very likely that Scotlands total try count wont even equal the individual top scorers tally but they do look much more of a scoring threat these days. With Tommy Seymour apparently carrying a niggling stomach muscle injury Visser should hopefully get on the pitch against Japan & the USA and while they are no pushovers they should be able to create chances and at all levels he has a great strike rate. it's a hail Mary at 150/1 but good for a giggle  |

Ladcrooks 25 for Nonu is tempting as if he plays against weaker sides he often sees little point in passing to the wing when he can just barge over himself. whether he plays in many of those games is the concern tho.
i found a way to get some 16/1 for Nehe so will find myself in the unusual position of cheering on the black shirts, at least when he is on the field. |

I agree with Nonu at 25s as one to have on side.
Tbh I'm tempted to go deep on Savea. Got a brilliant scoring record at this level and with the groups as they are I would be shocked if one of the NZ backs hadn't already got this won before the knockout stages. With Naholo just back from injury you'd logically think he'd be the more 'rotated'. Bit worried Savea being matched at like 10s on here and 4s at the bookies though... |

I wouldn't worry about that. Most bookie prices in a market like this are scandalous due to the massive over-round and dislike of laying anything near the top of the market at a value price.

This is not a market i would normally be interested in but PP are offering a £5 free bet every time your selection scores (£25 min stake). The prices are not overly generous but NZ look to have a soft group games so I guess Savea (9/2) and Nehe (9/1) will be popular. As previous posters have said a lot of it comes down to gametime against Namibia, Georgia and Tonga.

Sam Burgess is 250-1. Am I missing something here? He is fkin brilliant. Will they try him out v Fiji, might he get a hattrick against them and be a mainstay from then on?

So far in Union he is not noted as a try scorer and will probably end up more of a creator.

Anyone spot any value in the team specific try scoring markets?
books have priced up but as usual betfair lags way behind. there policy seems to be to wait until someone asks them to put a market up other than the obvious. not very inspiring. I reckon Mark Bennett is a decent shout for top Scotland try scorer at around 10/1. He missed the 2nd half of last season after shoulder surgery but has come back looking fit & fresh. He was the best player on the pitch in the warm up matches he played in against France and Italy imo. his other 6 starts so far in international rugby have all been against top sides in the 6 nations or autumn internationals so 3 tries from those games is a decent return (especially for Scotland) 10/1 for him is certainly more appealing than the 7/2 4/1 about the back 3 players. |

I just don't see BF as being a factor in individual team try scorers. 8 years ago maybe, but in 2015 the only market getting any interest is the outright. The rest are just bit players in terms of money matched. Second choice wingers for certain countries could easily sneak in e/w if they play in the right game, especially in Pool A. |

it will be a bit of a litmus test seeing what turnover is like.
of course betfair don't have to put up a market for every country, the bookies haven't priced up japan, namibia etc, but i would have thought markets for the home nations would have attracted interest. |

paddy have made a fairly dramatic cut on Keith Earls for top Irish tries. 10/1 straight to 5/1.
i know he's been picked for the Canada game ahead of Zebo but a slight over reaction perhaps? |

Probably just protecting themselves from a flood of money. Starting against the weak teams will always see a winger from a top nation backed in, especially if a bit unexpected as with this.

D Kearney is hardly a tryscoring machine, Bowe has been terrible in the warm ups and Zebo has been pretty ordinary, though has been at FB.

i still think it's a bit of an over reaction but they obviously don't as they are now 4/1.
lads have pushed Zebo out to 9/1. He will likely get on the pitch at some point, maybe at 15 but maybe on the wing. lots of maybes with these kind of bets. |
