If England were to win the rugby WC who is likely to be considered England's star man in the eyes of the public and press?

Robshaw, Ford or whoever scores the most tries e.g Joseph or Watson.

Mike Brown rarely has bad things said about him. For me personally it would be Courtney Lawes however I am selling his participation minutes because he will do something mental and get injured at some point in the group games. Difficult world cup to call. The home side has all the advantages, Twickers, rest periods, match order etc but good enough?

Cheers, I was just thinking about BBC SPOTY awards and I wasn't aware of the profile of the players in the current England team.  They seem a team without a star name but that could all change ofc after the World Cup.

England could theoretically win in one of two ways in my view. The whole team takes a marked stride forward and the collective glory reflects well on the captain or they play decently as a team but two or three individuals suddenly leap foward and take the plaudits. From that squad I'd say of the forwards who could be enough in the limelight you'd think Billy V and/or Launchbury would be possible candidates and in the backs you'd be looking at Ford, Joseph or Watson.

Of course the left field possibility could see the late run of Slammin Sam causing him to take the competition by storm but I'd say that's about as likely as England winning at this stage.

How on Earth did Wales get seeded below Scotland?

Seedings were done two years ago based on IRB rankings at the time.

I think the 2 most likely to catch the publics imagination would be Burgess and Cipriani , but I very much doubt that either will make the final 31.
I cant see England the WC , but if they were to , I can only see it happening by reverting to a penalty kicking competition , and Owen Farrell would have to be the 2015 version of JW

The only way Slammin Sam and Cips are playing is if there are injuries.

when bath switched burgess from centre to the back row i thought that had put paid to any chance he had of making the wc squad so i'm surprised he was even in the reckoning tbh.
if rumours are to be believed it's now looking like he may well be picked and he will certainly be the most talked and written about player if he is.

Yes good point northanlite. I didn't include Burgess in my list as assumed he wasn't being picked but as you say the word now suggests Burrell will miss out.

Sorry to see Cipriani miss out. I would have had both Burgess and Burrell.

Yea Burgess surprise certainly can only think he will be a last 20 impact runner against tired defences rather than a starter similar to Basteraud but with a brain

i guess burgess must have been pulling up trees in the training camp
