Lions: Rob Kearney; Sean Maitland, Manu Tuilagi, Brad Barritt, Simon Zebo; Owen Farrell, Conor Murray; Ryan Grant, Richard Hibbard, Dan Cole, Richie Gray, Geoff Parling (capt), Dan Lydiate, Sean O'Brien, Toby Faletau.
Replacements: Rory Best, Mako Vunipola, Matt Stevens, Ian Evans, Justin Tipuric, Ben Youngs, Billy Twelvetrees, Stuart Hogg.

Melbourne Rebels: Jason Woodward; Tom English, Mitch Inman, Rory Sidey, Lachlan Mitchell; Bryce Hegarty, Luke Burgess; Nic Henderson, Ged Robinson, Laurie Weeks, Cadeyrn Neville, Hugh Pyle, Jarrod Saffy, Scott Fuglistaller, Gareth Delve (capt).
Replacements: Pat Leafa, Cruze Ah Nau, Paul Alo-Emile, Luke Jones, Jordy Reid, Nic Stirzaker, Angus Roberts, Cooper Vuna

A most peculiar selection by the Lions;

Why risk Farrell, does he really need game time?  As poorly as he is playing he is our only genuine Test cover at 10.

Ditto Dan Cole; wasn't good at the weekend, but do we really want Matt Stevens on the bench for the Test?

Backrow composition interesting; is he giving Lydiate a chance to play himself into the side at 6?  Is SOB genuinely being considered as a Test 7?  Is Tipuric being rested for next Saturday?  Hmmmm...

May be a peculiar team in a couple of respects but is a mile better than the last midweek team.
Report furrelli June 23, 2013 12:12 PM BST
people need gametime, 50mins is bttr than any amount of practice/drills to sharpen yer game & keep in nick. Most selections make sense to me.

Gareth Delve captaining Rebels, playing against some of his Welsh buddies.

Evans  replaces   Parling. As Lydiate takes over the captaincy.

Certainly indicates that Parling will be in the Test side
Report yummy June 24, 2013 10:38 AM BST
With Croft replacing  Evans on the bench it looks as if the back row might be

8 Heaslip

7.Tupuric

6 Warburton

Looks like that may be the case yummy. Possibly undue credit but I wonder if it was a masterstroke to leave Tipuric out of the side with Pollock reffing, knowing the way he likes to ref the breakdown (pointless having two scramblers on the pitch in him and Warburton). Joubert should certainly let more go in that area.

Might get a bit of stick but I didn't think POC played very well 1st Test, went missing a bit. I realise it's a big loss, he is probably the captain in all but the ref's eyes and he had an excellent tour up till last week, but Parling has been putting his hand up nearly every game. Don't wish ill on POC obviously, but I'm not disappointed that Parling is going to get an opportunity.

Still looks strong enough to cover the spread IMHO, so that's what I'm going with...

Report Latalomne June 25, 2013 11:14 AM BST
The Rebels aren't very good.
Report Butchos123 June 25, 2013 11:15 AM BST
Nothing exceptional so far, but Lions clearly stronger at the moment. So far, so solid.
Report YKNOT June 25, 2013 11:30 AM BST
Cole is so far from his normal game he must have a problem.Better handling would have seen maybe 3 more tries.
Report 1.01 Layer June 25, 2013 11:33 AM BST
I'm not saying the draw should be shorter than 100/1 but 400 is worth a go imo.
Report mrtopnotch June 25, 2013 11:41 AM BST
don't get Barnes' incessent snipping at Murray on Sky, thought he was the player of the first half, Murray and Farrell really combine well together imo
Report curious-cat June 25, 2013 11:45 AM BST
second string backs for the Lions by far.
Report curious-cat June 25, 2013 11:47 AM BST
well done O'Brien !
Report curious-cat June 25, 2013 11:48 AM BST
forwards going better than the backs imo
Report Butchos123 June 25, 2013 12:03 PM BST
Morale boosting win here. Rebels best choice of opposition though?!
Report khyber kim June 25, 2013 12:07 PM BST
Another penalty try there surely?
Report curious-cat June 25, 2013 12:10 PM BST
excellent defence by Lions

Good unit this. Nice start to my punting day too.
Report Butchos123 June 25, 2013 12:13 PM BST
1.01 massive value here...
Report ray12 June 25, 2013 12:20 PM BST
good performance overall  I know its easy when you are winning  but it genuinely seems to be a "happy camp" (unlike some recent tours)   maitland growing on me as tour progresses and Zebo great entertainment    forwards a solid unit   not conceding a bonus   roll on Saturday!!!
Report curious-cat June 25, 2013 12:22 PM BST
someone took a hammering in the h'cap 19.5 market

still offering 1.01 when the rebels needed 3 scores in 10 minutes Laugh
