Ref stopping clock at scrum time.  Never seen that before. Looks a useful development.

Disappointing that he only gave a scrum to the Canes when the SH had the ball slapped out of his hand on halfway with the clock approaching 79 mins. A Canes lineout in the corner at that stage would have been nice, but not to be.

Quite keen on the Stormers next up. No Beale, O'Connor or Vuna for the Rebels. 20 year old Hegarty makes his first start at 10 for them, so it looks strange that they've decided to bench their international scrum half, Phipps. Bekker and Etzebeth have had a couple of run outs for the Stormers so should be up to full speed for a full 80 now. The one negative is Vermeulen missing, but I still expect them to be far too strong up front. It's a must-win game for the Stormers too, lose this and they can kiss goodbye to any hopes of making the playoffs.

Anyone watching that? Ridiculous decision from the referee on HT who clearly doesn't know the rules. Rebels get a penalty inside the Stormers half and indicate a shot at goal. The kicker chips it down the wing for one of his teammates to run onto and the ref orders a retake. Should have been a scrum to the Stormers at the mark. The level of incompetence from these guys beggars belief.

With you there, Vis, though that's my book talking too....

It's buggered me too Lata  - couldn't see a try there.  Even to give a pen try ignoring the knock on is very debatable as you cannot be sure he would have got there with Stormers players in the mix.

There was a knock on in open play before that as well where the ref said it went backwards. It goes against me too, but it doesn't change the fact that the TMO got it wrong.

I'd laid some Stormers at 1.28 too....  Just not enough!  Cry

Referees have an excuse for getting things wrong in that they have to make decisions on the spot, but I can't get over these TMOs. I genuinely think they make more incorrect calls than correct ones.

Looking at it again now that is easily one of the worst of the season.  Probable knock on as you say Dun in back play, definite knock on by Higginbottom and Rebel not at all certain to get the try at all with Habana cruising back at shirt pull time.  That's 3 ways the try could have been chalked off.  Incompetence of the highest order from the box.

Totally beyond my comprehension! How do they arrive at these decisions, maybe they should explain with the outcome.

TMO picks up the knock on from the force to b*gger any chance of a grandstand finish Sad

Blues look to have been robbed of a try there.
