are a pair of home wins a forgone conclusion?

PP going 1/1 Glasgow +10 makes some appeal. as there was not much between them in the recent game at the RDS. i would rather have that then a similar cap on Scarlets tonight.

it is a bit of a gamble from glasgow dropping jackson to the banch. i do think horne is the better 10 but his goal kicking is very suspect while even though hogg kicked a couple well last week putting him up as front line kicker is a risk, although he is cocky enough to handle it.
Report Monstrous Bryan May 10, 2013 5:18 PM BST
PP have an offer on for the Aviva and Rabo semis, double your 1st tryscorer odds if they score another try. Pienaar is 17.0 and Williams is 13.0. Scarlets conceded two tries to the big Treviso back row last week, big boy Williams has gotta be eyeing up that tryline. Piennar scored one last week

Rolland referees France by virtue of being an Irishman and he's refereeing an important game involving an Irish team !!!

Report Ozymandius May 10, 2013 8:05 PM BST
One would expect a points fest at RDS tomorrow.

Agreed that you wouldn't go against Glasgow on the cap.
Report curious-cat May 10, 2013 8:07 PM BST

that was a pretty devastating last 15 mins from ulster.
Report Monstrous Bryan May 10, 2013 8:50 PM BST
Why is Rollaind awarding a try, then doubting himself?
Report curious-cat May 10, 2013 8:51 PM BST
another shocker from AR who gives a try and is begged by the Scarlets to review it.

AR couldn't possibly have seen the grounding.

no yellow card for a blatant deliberate knock on a yard from the line ...

blatant lying on the wrong side of a ruck with no attempt to move and no penalty
Report sewter lives again May 10, 2013 9:45 PM BST
yep cat he decided very early who was going to win this game and as you said bizarre that he should have even been reffing it

did the Scarlets have a say in the appointment?

perhaps England can have their own ref next year against Wales to give them a chance
Report curious-cat May 10, 2013 9:48 PM BST
most charges can be laid against AR

would he have sent off a French player in similar circumstances in the RWC sf ?
Report northanlite May 10, 2013 10:10 PM BST
seems strange rolland was ref for that match when for the other semi they have appointed a french ref who, although has done pro 12 before, usually does top 14 matches.

Report northanlite May 11, 2013 7:01 PM BST
i think glasgow match up very well man for man v leinster.
grant, strauss, matawalu & barclay have been outstading during the season but home ad is so vital here i could see leinster just nicking it.
hoping for a close one but glasgow  have taken a big gamble with the kicking duties so that is the worry. i'm assuming hogg will kick.
Report Monstrous Bryan May 11, 2013 7:07 PM BST
It is a weird decision, stopped me going for overs cause it's due to be a dry night. Couldn't resist Matawalu on the pp 1st try scorer offer, at 17.0
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 7:11 PM BST
2 top try scorers in the league so we could assume points but games just don't work out like that at this stage. i would not be surprised if we did see a few tries tho. hope so
Report big_dunc May 11, 2013 7:22 PM BST
Not a day that you want to be taking a gamble with the kicking duties. It's blowing a gale in Dublin and the RDS is a very exposed ground. Been a few hravy showers, but none for a few hours. The sun is out now and conditions should have dried out a lot in the wind.

I agree that Glasgow match up well against Leinster in most positions, but they are massively outgunned in the 10/12/13 channel and that's where I expect Leinster to capitalise. Going against the grain and taking Leinster on the cap. Conditions were very similar against the Ospreys last weekend when Sexton had a stormer.
Report Monstrous Bryan May 11, 2013 7:29 PM BST
DTH 8-1 anyime with victor, 50-1 last tryscorer!
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 7:29 PM BST
i think you may be underestimating horne & dunbar dunc but i do worry about the kicking. if it were me i probably would have gone with jackson although he aint the most solid kicker either
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 7:31 PM BST
quite like that dth bet. his own tries have dried up a bit lately but he is still playing very well. i think he should be a 13 which is a position he plays very well for canada
Report big_dunc May 11, 2013 7:35 PM BST
It's a crying shame that Weir misses out because the points line looks far too low if there are two reliable kickers on the pitch, even allowing for the wind and possibility of rain.
Report Monstrous Bryan May 11, 2013 7:35 PM BST

Report big_dunc May 11, 2013 8:04 PM BST
Exactly what I was thinking nl. Leinster are going to have at least one spell where they convert a chance so need points on the board.

That strike helps and should do his confidence the world of good.
Report big_dunc May 11, 2013 8:07 PM BST

Report northanlite May 11, 2013 8:15 PM BST
from a good position glasgow could find themselves a couple of scores down because of that stupidity
Report big_dunc May 11, 2013 8:18 PM BST
You feel Glasgow need at least a 17-11 lead at HT time given the wind advantage.
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 8:20 PM BST
that is a very harsh pen
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 8:24 PM BST

Report big_dunc May 11, 2013 8:24 PM BST
B0llocks ref that had to be a slap down by D'Arcy
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 8:28 PM BST
if this goes to script then leinster will come out like demons for the first 10 mins of the 2nd half and try to take the game away from glasgow. all about discipline which has not been great from the away side
Report Monstrous Bryan May 11, 2013 8:32 PM BST
Really hope beyond hope that Glasgow can win and not because of my betting position. They really do deserve something from this season, they have played the most exciting rugby in the league by a mile
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 8:35 PM BST
i think kearney holding up that try could prove to be a match winning move
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 8:39 PM BST

Report northanlite May 11, 2013 9:04 PM BST

Report northanlite May 11, 2013 9:31 PM BST
i'm shellshocked. i just will never understand why when you have your regular goal kicker on the pitch you would give the ball to an occasional kicker. it just beggars belief.
Report big_dunc May 11, 2013 9:32 PM BST
As they say in the US, you gotta make those plays. They made Leinster look plain average. Shame he couldn't knock it over.
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 9:32 PM BST
actually no it does not beggar belief it is f***ing insane
Report Monstrous Bryan May 11, 2013 9:34 PM BST
Gotta say though, I never saw that season coming. Townsend has done a good job, a player revolt was probably more likely than what they achieved. They have done the opposite of my expectations, grown as the season has gone on.
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 9:38 PM BST
i agree MB but i still can't get my head around that ending. jackson is over 80%  and kicking is his job. why on earth did hogg take it. i'm mystified.
Report Northofperth May 11, 2013 9:39 PM BST
It's not just the choice of kicker that is questionable , but the try scorer went over the try line between tired , lumbering forwards and touched down as soon as he could . If he had thought about things he would have done his damnedest to get closer to the posts . IMO
Report Monstrous Bryan May 11, 2013 9:41 PM BST
Too true mate. Cost me about 300, or at least the chance of a decent lay, but c'est la vie hey. You could be as bad as the Dragons Happy
Report big_dunc May 11, 2013 9:43 PM BST
Nl, what are your thoughts on Townsend at season's end? Not saying that to rile you, genuine question as you know you were unhappy in the circumstances that Lineen left. Townsend looks to have taken them to another level...
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 9:45 PM BST
nah i'm not blaming bennet at all he got the ball down in decent kicking range. the rest was madness. who knows maybe jackson would have missed but he is the first choice goal kicker so why on earth was hogg up at the tee
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 9:51 PM BST
fair point MB. i was very unhappy the way sean was sidelined and still am. i can't fault townsend though as he has got the side playing with real flair. the core of that side though are lineens team, the lads he brought through like grant, low, murchie, horne, weir, wilson etc etc.
he brought through a generation of players that GT has to call on plus they used to play on a very narrow pitch so expansive rugby was impossible.
maybe it was time for a change but the way it was done leaves a sour taste and we will never know how far sean could have taken them.
Report Monstrous Bryan May 11, 2013 9:56 PM BST
True words, and not trying to provoke here. I suppose it has made his job of crafting easier, and to add to it he's obviously had some money/support floating about with signings like Strauss and Maitland
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 10:02 PM BST

Report Monstrous Bryan May 11, 2013 10:05 PM BST

Report big_dunc May 11, 2013 10:08 PM BST
Dunno MB. It was on the local Gaelic language station so I had the mute button on for most of it and wasn't paying attention to commentary.
Report big_dunc May 11, 2013 10:09 PM BST
Matawalu defies logic. He crabs and crabs, but then he's gone or flicks a pass out of the back of his hand and someone else is. He draws defenders like a back row forward.
Report MCKENNA May 11, 2013 10:14 PM BST
Heaslip got MOM. Missed the 1st 50 mins but feel gutted for Glasgow that they didnt sneak it in the end, could watch that style of rugby all day long, some of the offloading was unreal.

Analysts on TG4 were saying that Leinster were out on their feet in the last 15 and that there is no way they will be able to win the 2 finals, with only a 6 day break until the Stade game.  Joe Schmidt seemed unhappy with the reffing at the scrums in the 2nd half after the subs came on.
Report northanlite May 11, 2013 10:52 PM BST
if there is a team i wouldn't bet against doing it it is leinster. it is amazing how battle hardened the irish teams have become. when i was growing up they were a "soft touch" (not the players who were hard as nails but the winning mentality)  and more than any others steeped in the amateur code.
what has happened since has been remarkable.
