Did my pricewise on this game Monday and put in Biarritz -6 and said I'd back them at that. Thought the result flattered Connaught the last day. When I saw bookmakers prices last night at -15 I nealry fell over. Do people not realise that Connaught are a good side now, not the whipping boys of old. Connaught +15 is one of the better bets of the year IMO and the only bet I fancy at this stage. If Munster go +6 I'll be in for that as well
Pouring rain all day down in the South of France, puddles on the pitch, so looks like unders is the call in this one. The +16 is also a good bet. Good luck lads, here we go!!

any idea if it is windy too? i was thinking the +16 looked too big but then i also have an image of yachvili kicking about half a dozen penalty goals their forwards grinding out a try and biarritz winning something like 25 - 06. i think i might leave tonights games alone.

That really is a terrible mess of a pitch and it's still pouring down. Connacht should just hoof the thing at the Biarritz back-three all night and wait for the inevitable blunders.

well connacht certainly have the man for that job RM. He's no too good at much else but in poor weather he can be a match winner (to be fair he played very well last week & not just his kicking)

They have the usual three lads with plank of wood broom desperately trying to get some of the water off the pitch but the main issue will be it is still raining

Should be a government warning about backing teams at 1.15 in these conditions. Some people are nuts.
Time until first Balshaw clanger:
0-3 mins 7/4 3-8 mins 7/4 8-80 mins 7/4
Same for Brew, but Ngwenya's is like this:
0-26secs 7/4 27secs to 2m 7/4 After 2m - don't be daft.

Nah, not quite Vis. In patches it is for sure but the rec was actually bubbling with mud all across and was cut up pre-match (as the rec often is). Also I think the river runs off into the stadium in Bath, an innovative system that flies in the face of generally accepted wisdom.

Last week this bloke Hodges broke the record, previously held by Rolland, for making me scream at the TV. And I even won on the cap, which makes it even worse. I genuinely don't think he knows the laws.

we seeing the problem with back to back games here. it was getting nasty towards the end of last weeks game and it has carried on to the start of this one

It's alright northanlite, Hodges has already nailed his colours to the home team's mast as someone else suggested he would. Plenty more chances to come.

Quinlan at it now, learn the frigging laws before commentating. Balshaw jumps into touch so it's Connacht ball, good decision touchie.
So that's first Balshaw blunder at 17:32

Touch judge and ref miss fight right in front of them. Incredible stuff.
Why are players passing the ball??? Get it, hoof it, chase like your life depends on it. Absurdly dumb from Connacht this half.

In a sick sort of way I don't mind watching these sort of games playing against the elements. For all the pressure Connacht have been under they are doing ok to be only 3 behind. Could do with some Biarritz mistakes shortly.

I agree with Connacht's defence. Been very good indeed, but their decisions with the ball have been awful. In that respect they are lucky it's only 3-0.
I enjoy these games as well. Reminds me of when I played, spending 5 minutes laying in a puddle with a fatso trying to drown me.

this reminds me of wet monday mornings at secondary school with a football hating p.e teacher, who took great delight trying to instill moral fibre on his pupils i.e (he loved sending us out in freezing, raining conditions to play his beloved rugby)anyone caught shirking was made to go into the front row

Yachvilli and Harry the Donkey taking over here. Amazing how Biarritz couldn't pass the ball to save their lives last week, but in the pouring rain and mud they are throwing it about pretty well.

If Connacht haul that idiot Dan Parks off and put on anybody with a brain and 2 legs they might have a chance. Abysmal performance by him, heaping pressure on his own team with bad kicking, bad tackling, bad decision-making.....

This Ed kicker is a total waste of time RM. He is up to 4 misses and most have ended nearer the corner flag than the post. It is doing my nut in as Racing aren't offering a lot

I think this cap is utterly done for. Swapped to Biarritz now as Connacht simply don't know what they are up to and the referee is one of the biggest guessers of all time. Biarritz power should be enough to get them at least 6 more points.

Truly bemusing second half, just seems to revolve around Hodges jogging back and forth and making something up.
Bit annoyed I didn't take under 25.5 at half time, turned into a pretty average night for me.

I got lucky there, but in all honesty Connacht didn't deserve anything at all. Utterly nothing from them in attack, a terrible gameplan and they were second best in handling, kicking, scrummaging and more. Gutsy as ever in defence, but that doesn't cut it at this level. I just can't work out what Elwood told them to do.
Still, even if they don't win another game (and they should with a home game against Zebre) they have still built on last season's Heineken cup performance. A team on the up, despite this (and Leinster thieving all their players).

That kick was incredible from Yachvilli. How do you nail 2 from wide out in conditions like this? Incredible skills, someone should show that Edinburgh lad the tape and gives him directions to the job centre.

Got to feel for anyone who has to ref in those conditions, but he was comfortably the worst I saw last week when he took the Sale game. His ruck calls were absolute guesswork last week and I don't know how he has got to this level.
There's a welsh ref in the Premiership who I think has been excellent, but is he rewarded with Heineken cup games? nope.

Somebody put up 1.5 for him to make it but cancelled quickly, then I put a lay up on him at 1.35 to miss it, somebody jumps infront at 1.36 gets matched

On average 1.35 would probably be worth backing in those conditions, but there's something about Yachvilli. Bit like Nick Evans, somehow he always nails the tough ones.

My sincere apologies to anyone who followed me over the cliff here. That result certainly quietened me for the weekend. Going in the gate of the Aviva now a chastened person. On the Ospreys +6 but for only a fraction of what I lost last night. Apologies again

No need to apologise for having an opinion. You got absolutely stuffed in the last minute and can put that down to horrible luck (and Dan Parks, mostly Dan Parks). Connacht were hugely disappointing, but they were literally inches from still winning on the cap.
