I am not sure if much could have been done to prevent this but the Heineken Cup final is being played right in the middle of the two Super 14 semi finals.  Bulls v Crusaders is on at 4:05pm and Stormers v Waratahs kicks off at 6:10pm.

The timing could not be worse and will surely have a major impact on viewing figures.  Obviously from our point of view there is possibility of in running liquidity being down especially for the Super 14 matches.

A great shame, I am not keen on missing any of these.

Unfortunately was always on the cards once the two SA teams got the 1,2 slots. Shame one isn't on Fri night.

yes gutted when I saw that planning , personally going to watch the Super 14 live and record the HC final and watch as live later , won't be trading in-play anyway so best option for me.

From a selfish scheduling point of view it will be very handy if both dogs get through in the S14 semis thus setting up a Sat am final.

Otherwise I think the best we can hope for would be a 4pm KO in SA.  The weekend is looking pretty messy anyway with back to back finals in Europe overlapping and that's without considering possibilities of extra time.

5:30 GP Final
6:30 Magners Final
7:45 Top 14 Final

No contest for me, it has to be Bulls v Crusaders over the Heineken final, if anyone watched the first game between these two a couple of weeks back you'll know what I mean when I say this re-match could be one of the games of the year. S14 rugby has outshone the Heineken pretty much all season and a Biarritz v Toulouse final doesn't quite get the pulse racing and will have to be Sky+ just for interest sake.

As a non bettor it would be watch s14s and record HC final as it looks like s14 behind the red button so as far as I know a non-runner for Sky +

However as a bettor no contest, HC every time.  Betting wise S14 in-running just doesn't cut it.

As for playing attractions of the games, it's horses for courses.  Different styles of rugby.  Bulls v Saders likely to be as open as Toulouse v Btz will be tight.  I'm a fan of both styles.  + don't be too harsh on the HC.  Selected games of the reg season have been fantastic and the QFs weekend was the best set of 4 matches ever at that stage of the tournie.

Don't get my wrong Vis, I love watching Heineken cup rugby also and agree with your comments re quarters etc. The two comp's do have different styles of rugby and indeed the tighter game play of euro style can be intense and good to watch, but for pure excitement of open play, power at the breakdown and speed of recycling, allowing for try fests at break neck speeds, for me S14 wins. In the end as rugby lovers we all end up winning when it gets to this point in the competitions as the rugby is normally at test match standards. Bulls by the way have made for great in-running propositions this season though I'd rather not go into details in case of peering eyes :)

S14 KO at 4:10 UK time. Could have been worse I suppose. At least we get the first half uninterrupted.

Then it's clashes of some sort all the way through the 4 finals Cry

I really can't believe the scheduling again this weekend.  Why on earth would the relevant authorities of the ****ss and Magners competitions allow there to be a clash in the timings of the finals when the majority of rugby fans want to watch both?  Not quite as bad as last week but still pretty poor.

The clash itself may not be quite so bad, but the stupidity behind it is far worse. Little anyone can do about HC finals and Super14 semis clashing, but the Magners and Premiership finals overlapping??? Can not for the life of me work out why both authorities are happy to blatantly lose part of their TV audience when so many people, myself and many others on here obviously included, would love to watch both.

Means I will miss the first half of the Magners, which would not have been the plan.

He did a tipping site many years ago, maybe as far back as 2005

I would have been impressed if he had tipped up Scotland to beat Australia away a few years back.
