SHABANA Mahmood has been forced into a humiliating £10billion U-turn on her flagship immigration reforms after a revolt by Labour’s left-wing MPs.
The Home Secretary scrapped plans to make lower-skilled migrants wait 15 years for permanent settlement, cutting the proposed wait to ten.
The embarrassing retreat came despite Ms Mahmood previously warning care workers and their adult dependants expected to settle by 2030 could cost taxpayers a whopping £10 billion over their lifetimes.
