£100k salary pays £68K after taxes
£48K salary pays £38K after taxes

Take £10K or so off the top earner and put it on the lower earner, and a job that pays over double on the headline numbers, only pays about 20% more in reality, system's broke.

20% more than 38k is about 46k. I do hope she falls down somewhere though,
she could well stop Reform getting in. Tory voters may have short memories.

Welcome to Kemi's Wonderful Wacky World of Welfare for millionaires        LaughLaughLaughLaugh

What next? Vouchers to get your Rolls-Royce valetted?

What I've done is taken £10K childcare costs off the £100K salary and added them on to the £48K salary,

£100K salary with childcare costs pays £58K after taxes
£48K salary with childcare benefits pays £48K after taxes

Most people will look at the trade-off and wonder if it is worth paying more for an education, working longer hours, more stress, just for an extra 20%.

Yeah blank those millionaires are definitely going to need those Vouchers to get their Rolls-Royces valeted!

Bizarre logic, is this with or without koolaid.

I wonder how much the biggest benefit claimant in Britain actually receives, once housing and all other benefits are taken into account? Something for others to aspire to. Don't suppose anyone knows do they?

King Charles.

Shame we can't organise some high quality social housing.
Report Shrewd_dude • October 5, 2026 5:19 PM BST
Birmingham is ranked 1 out of total spending for benefits as a local authority at £4.1bn

Never saw that coming.
Report MrStrawMan • October 5, 2026 5:21 PM BST
How about building quality housing for people that work and only for people that actually work .
