What an amazing woman she was.  Very few people have, if any, have done more for this country in my lifetime.

Report CLYDEBANK29 • October 1, 2026 2:38 PM BST
No thanks.  Twitter is for trolls, simpletons, narcissists, gaslighters, frauds, and liars.
Report Slicer • October 1, 2026 2:40 PM BST
But apart from that............

Anyone who wants to be informed has no choice but to use twitter.

My mate and I exchange Cryptic comments when one of us spots a deceased we both would know (usually sport related ). Yesterday it was ' Oy Vey ' .....reply ...' Thats Life' . Mind you we got Ted Lowe and John Lowe mixed up last week .

Misinformation spreads rapidly on Twitter due to the platform's real-time nature, algorithmic amplification, and human psychological preferences for novelty and emotional content.  Studies, such as a major MIT analysis, show that false news travels significantly farther, faster, and deeper than real news because falsehoods evoke stronger emotional responses like surprise and disgust.

The illusion of competence: Identified by psychologists David Dunning and Justin Kruger in 1999, this cognitive bias shows that individuals with the least expertise in a domain dramatically overestimate their own understanding

The double burden: The very skills required to provide a correct answer or perform a task are the exact same skills needed to evaluate one's performance. If a person lacks those foundational skills, they also lack the ability to realize they are wrong

"Mount Stupid": When people first learn a tiny fraction about a topic, they hit an early peak of absolute certainty because they are unaware of the vast "unknown unknowns" that exist beyond their limited view.

there are Videos of Ms Ranzten and her Covid rants  Clyde , and she was aware of Savile accusations , no Misinformation involved

What are all the great things she done for the UK ?
Report Cider • October 1, 2026 6:04 PM BST
I don't like twatter at all, and don't use it.

However, 'misinformation' spreads rapidly everywhere, especially from so called trusted sources. In fact twatter is one of the only places where the truth is not suppressed. There's just a lot of crapp on it as well.

When she set up Childline she aware of the Savile rumours , Incredible she did not look into them further or raise the issues with the high profile she knew

I'm not viewing it, but I read the title. Obviously produced by people who think they are very smart.

Do you feel constantly gas lit by the authorities? As that's what they are doing, and it's nothing to do with your own intelligence to be able to observe that. But they do rely on people being othered if they call it out. Which, obviously, anyone who lived through covid and lockdowns experienced. The manipulation of the population using MISINFORMATION, first hand.

"Obviously produced by people who think they are very smart."

On the contrary
Report CLYDEBANK29 • October 1, 2026 8:03 PM BST
But they are smart.  That's obvious.

Smart enough to know when they were being dumb for sure
Report Cider • October 1, 2026 8:21 PM BST
You're not making a lot of sense. There is no single 'source' of information that is trustworthy. 'Official' sources are some of the least trustworthy. twatter or the bbc, matters not. we all have to make our own research and reach our own independent conclusions. unfortunately that particular art has gone out of fashion.
Report Ronaldmcdonald • October 1, 2026 8:34 PM BST
"Twitter is for trolls, simpletons, narcissists, gaslighters, frauds, and liars" - I agree, not exclusively for those types but otherwise correct. You still need it to be informed though, unless you can give me an alternative platform CB with more news sources updating in real time? Any news source you care to name is probably on twitter including the sources you consider to be credible.
Report Cider • October 1, 2026 8:46 PM BST
'news' is monetised now. simple as that. even the great 'bbc' simply chases clicks and views. there's no demand for boring, stale news. journalists can earn a crust by sitting in their bedsits, trawling social media. as I suggest, anyone who wants to be genuinely informed needs to do their own groundwork, but in my experience, most people are too lazy and/or disinterested in the reality. it's easier to believe that 'Truss crashed the economy' than it is to dig into what really went down.

She had a platform but she did great things with it..

Founded Childline which has helped over 4 million people since inception

Founded The Silver Linew hich has also helped over 4 million people since inception

Boosted organ donations such that MPs officially noted in Parliament in 1988 that her campaign had directly led to an unprecedented rise (doubling) in the number of successful transplants

The most influential person  in the introduction of mandatory child seatbelts (that alone has saved 11,400 lives)

Exposed the child abuse at Crookham which directly led to the school being shut down and multiple members of staff—including the school’s principal—being convicted and imprisoned for their crimes.

And ofc the most influential figure behind her final campaign
