Apologies nanny you are correct I’m wrong, I only heard about this issue this morning and it was his latest statement they discussed which he didn’t actually say much.
It showed you what the guy who got banned said and he only said “free Palestine” it was nothing bad, the crowd cheered.
This was Irish morning TV.

Too many prats trying to bring their politics in to every form of entertainment these days.

The main point is the cancelling of free speech.
By:

I assume you include the lad that owns the venue on that and promoter, ultimately they have made the decision on politics, or is only politics you disagree with should not be allowed

Doesn’t seem like he’s been cancelled. He can say what he wants.

Just the bloke that was paying him for a performance at that time paid him to do music rather than prance about with politics on his dime. That’s acceptable isn’t it?

You are contradicting yourself. He said what he wanted and was told sling your hook,he couldn't in effect say what he wanted except at cost.

Never heard of the guy don’t like rap music in fact I could not name an ed Sheeran song, but I think guy was cancelled, the other support artists have voluntarily left the process
As said all the guy said was “free palestine” not in aggressive manner and the crowd, paying customers cheered.

Art embodies politics and humanity, from picasso's Guernica, too Not The 9 O'clock News, too Bob Dylan. etc etc.

Is Sheeran an artist or just an entertainer?
The answer from the consumers view is totally subjective and only valid for them personally.

Millions of people are now shocked because they mistakenly thought they could just buy entertainment from an artist and not have to deal with the fundamental humanity that the artist portrays.

He is a musician. He was paid to do music by someone. He brought in politics. They said we don't want that and we won't pay you anymore.

He is perfectly entitled to do what he wants at his own concerts if he wants to become the new kneecap balaclava boys or whatever.

This is how the world works. A council or Tesco worker would be treated the same. Stop sounding like a 14 year old teenage girl and putting musicians on some sort of pedestal.

He was cancelled by a Jewish person who didn't obviously like the sympathy towards Palestine, could that be at all possible?
By:

I think that is factual Pa, surely everyone knows that and is not disputed?
By:

If that Jewish person paid him to play music and he didn't do that and brought in politics do you not think he also has the right to say we are not paying you any more to do that?

How was he cancelled? I know Macklemore is a pretty crap musician even by your balaclava boys standards but have you not heard he does his own concerts where he can say what he wants? Or do you think he should still be paid to piggyback off bigger musicians concerts because of some sort of entitlement? I mean he's not black or Irish so he can't play the chip on the shoulder card where everyone is out to get him so tune in to next concert where he can say as much as he wants.

He's not a musician, he's an "artist"

Maybe they wanted music, but they bought and paid for art, and got art.

Caveat Emptor (buyer beware)

Hi Malay,if so, why did he get rid of Macklemore who has shown empathy towards the dire straits of the Gazans plight? What is ongoing is simply factual as well, is he ashamed, doesn't like the 'bad-mouthing'?,It is ongoing and no sign of stopping.

Do you not think a Jewish person has the right to pay a musician to play music without bringing politics in to it and decide if he doesn't want to pay that person any more if he does bring politics in to it?

How was he cancelled? I mean he is a pretty poor musician even by your balaclava boys standards but he does do his own concerts where he can say what he likes without trying to piggyback off a bigger musicians fan base. I mean the guy sin't Irish so he can't play the chip on the shoulder card and say everyone is out to get him so there's nothing to prevent him from continuing his own concerts and saying as much about politics as he wants and you can tune in if you want to hear it.

why did he get rid of Macklemore

The jewish owner of the stadium literally banned Macklemore from playing in his stadium.

A stark contrast to a few months ago when the same stadium owner happily let self professed pro hitler keyne west play in the stadium.

It isn't 'politics'per se though, it is ethnic cleansing with possible genocide and war crimes occuring.

Yes Malay, that was Ed's 'mistake' he should have been 'with' the rest.

A number of different stadiums pulled the plug as they didn't want this numpty performing at their venues.

Therefore the promoters had little choice but to dump Benjamin Haggerty and make him Mic No More Laugh

The thing is Lapsy I would agree with you if Macklemore had been dropped in advance because someone said they didn't like his personal views or because he was pro Palestine. That is cancel culture. You are being cancelled because of your personal beliefs

That's completely different from someone being quite happy for a musician to perform music then that musician deciding to also bring politics in to it.

I mean the idea that someone can hire someone to do a job and have them give it the big Up the IDF, Go Reform, Lets go MAGA, I'm UVF till I die! without the person hiring them or involved in them performing not be able to say I don't want that guy back again I just want him to do the job he was paid to do is a pretty bizarre world view to have.

Is this an example of the left cancelling free speech that "Team Woke Right" are always banging on about?

Integrity is more important than acquiring acquaintances. For me.

Plenty of people in fact mask their true feelings to keep with the 'in' crowd.

This was of course thoroughly tested throughout lockdown hysteria. That's when we saw who the genuine people really were (as opposed to the snitches & conformists).

Ignore the politics, he should have backed his mate, Sheran has been very guarded on his personal stance and that’s his prerogative.
He has now shown his hand with donation. Which is good.

Sorry Malay but that's rubbish. Sheeran keeps his views to himself and good on him for doing so. It was not him that cancelled Mic No More, but the promoters.

You are sounding like that hateful halfwit Roger Waters Sad
