A couple of greedy barstewards clueless of the bookie police and intelligence. I hope they received a hefty fine and not merely a suspended sentence.

Obv it's only in context of his overall bets, he could be punting every time he hears a rumour, adventually gets one right, easy to make it look dodgy but we don't have all the info. Is it a BBC story, the far hard left, aka traitors and quizlings, like the scum on ere. |

The trials of 10 other defendants will take place in September 2027 and January 2028.
Former MP Craig Williams, who was Sunak's closest parliamentary aide at the time, pleaded guilty in June and will be sentenced at a later date. |

Ex-Tory campaign chief and his wife receive suspended sentences over election bets
The Conservatives' former director of campaigning and his wife have received suspended prison sentences after they admitted to cheating at gambling by placing bets on the date of the 2024 general election. Anthony Lee used "inside information" emerging from a private meeting called by then-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to bet on the general election date months before it took place, Southwark Crown Court heard. Lee and his wife Laura stood to win more than £23,000 had their cheating not been uncovered, the court heard. Lee was sentenced to 10 months and two weeks' imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, while his wife was sentenced to four months and two weeks' imprisonment, suspended for a year. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ck3r5798p43eo |

The court heard Hind placed four bets and made three further unsuccessful attempts to place bets. The unsuccessful attempts were for £767, £700 and £750.
The judge described Hind's bets as a "clear departure from your previous betting history", noting: "Before the present offending, your largest stake had been £10.50, and only seven of your 3,399 recorded selections involved a stake of that amount." Lol,... |

Re. the Ballon D'Or....
If your "knowledge" comes from non-public inside information—such as leaking, advance notice from organizers, or a breach of confidentiality before the result is made public—it defeats the fundamental element of chance and exposes you to prosecution under Section 42 |

Suspended sentences....
![]() Perhaps the books should not be betting on these type of markets, asking for trouble. But when has anyone been jailed for anything gambling related in football or horse racing? Both sports need a good going over but both so much interlinked with bookmakers it will never happen, bookmakers happy for the skulldiggery to occur. But not so much in this instance it seems. When was last time anyone in horse racing was up in court? |
|
By:
The proceeds of the crime need to be above a certain level to trigger jail sentences. If it's above £200k then you are probably going down. Below and you probably aren't if you plead guilty and it's your first offence
|
|
By:
I think the threshold is £200k. I heard it mentioned on one of those problem gambling podcasts
