Govt wish to amend MOT tests for cars from 2001 onwards
Cars and motor bikes would NOT be allowed to exceed
the original emissions data
Failure to meet these will mean
£1000 minimum fine if you still use the vehicle
And unLIMITED Fines if you still carry on
Gonna hit Diesel cars worse due to dieselgate scandal
Better stock up with pre 2001 cars
Shocked

It's not about climate change as building a new car creates about 8 tons of CO2.

If they wanted to reduce the effect cars are having on climate change they would pass laws making cars last longer so they didn't have to be replaced so often.

Exactly what effect(sic) are cars in Britain having on climate change?

None Cider , the Co2 footprint of the UK is Minimal and being Reduced ,Sadly it will make no difference what so ever

VED had been directly correlated with co2 emissions for many years now. ie to put people of running larger engine cars, and force manufacturers to produce more efficient engines. Which they have achieved.

Yet they are claiming that 2026 was the 'hottest year on record' for us.

Pretty similar to 'renewable' energy being cheaper. Yet the more of it that is used as a proportion, the higher the actual bills go.

From Autoexpress "The Government also says vehicles with higher-than-approved emissions will also be exempt from fines when “the cause is not a modification made once the vehicle is in-use, normal servicing would not fix the problem and all emission‑control devices (such as a DPF) are present and working correctly”. This should present a get-out for properly maintained vehicles that have seen emissions increase through normal wear and tear. "

This Government and the Tories want to take us back 100 years when only the very rich can afford to own and run a car and take foreign holidays. People need to wake up to what is happening.

Contrary to claims on social media that a new, hyper-strict annual test is being created, no enhanced or secondary MOT emissions test is being proposed.

You guys need to get out more ffs.
