5 million is an Insult to Nepal , Billions being sent abroad for climate Change
By:
I wasn't aware of it until a video popped up on my phone tbh, incredible footage for 18 minutes.
By:
It’s climate change that caused it, so weird posts on here, prevention is always better than cure, might be too late ?
By:
Nepal sits on an active tectonic collision zone,it's mountains are in grand scheme of things pretty new. But that might not fit the narrative very well. Go figure.

MALAY 28 Aug 26 14:00
It’s climate change that caused it, ........................ Or perhaps an earthquake, but you are clearly convinced it was the former. Either way, 5 million is inadequate. |
By:
They don't think it was an earthquake now saddo, although they initially did. It seems the sheer force of the collapsing glacier registered as a seismic event
![]() The scientists are saying it's too early to state whether it is in fact down to climate change, but if Malay says it is then it must be ![]() |

I only read the first bit yesterday but they said earthquake. The glacier must have
been huge, so it's plausible that it made a 4 on the Richter scale. |
By:
They did think that to start with but soon realised what had actually happened as per this report
https://www.independent.co.uk/asia/south-asia/nepal-flash-floods-cause-glacier-avalanche-deaths-b3040845.html |
By:
Not disputing the Glazier snapping off caused a seismic like event to register, my point is the sheer amount of earthqakes in region played a big part .A natural event. To call it a otherwise is entirely unproven. The rivers did were not flowing unatually higher before event, warming would do this one would think.
But that doesn't fit the narrative. Parts of the Karakoram region have actually seen glaciers increase in size. It's far from clear what factors caused this natural event,to blame warming could be incorrect. |

I wonder how much of the Billions we send for Climate change will make any Difference ,if indeed half of it ,is not trousered
Nepal had a serious earthquake 10 year Back its a pathetic amount of Money to send to a Country who have helped us out fighting wars |
By:
I agree TON, £5million does seem peanuts, you can barely buy a second rate polititian for that in the UK.
By:
An unsettling video and you knew those running had no chance.
1st impression with that £5 million was it was tight but see the EU gave £2m though i think individual countries are giving some (Ireland just 500k) There are funds ie disaster, flooding etc set up and presume they will get some of them. |
By:
Escapee can you stop ruining threads trying to push your pony political agenda , its tedious
By:
£5m doesn't seem much but why should it be governments and not individual billionaires? Our government needs the money, as do all. I'm quite sure the likes of Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Zuckerberg and The Trump family don't.
By:
Can you just imagine the tears and conspiracy theories from some on here if Musk and Trump started handing millions of pounds of personal money to foreign governments?
Doesn't bear thinking about. |
By:
Lol @ muppets defending on here defending billionaires for not helping people in need, it's so friggin bizarre
By:
certainly is
By:
You must be thick as mince bearcub if you think thats defending someone.
By:
yeah you weren’t defending them, you just sat there and invented a completely imaginary scenario in your head to get upset on their behalf. Totally different. Keep sucking up to billionaires who couldn't give a sh1te about you
By:
Stop talking rubbish bearcub.
Everyone knows how forumites like yourself would react if Trump or Musk were to give millions of dollars of their personal wealth directly to the Nepalese government or any other foreign government. It wouldn’t be met with positivity. It would be questions of what are they expecting in return for it and all sorts of related conspiracy theories. Pointing that out isn’t getting upset or defending anyone. It’s just pointing out the hypocrisy of your type which is no doubt why you felt the need to try and read my post in the way you did. |
By:
You made up a completely fake scenario about Nepal, guessed how we would react to it, and now you're calling me a hypocrite based on the reaction you literally just invented for me? Brilliant stuff.
By:
My “completely fake scenario” bears quite a lot of relevance to the post above it bear cub which is more than can be said for the slavering nonsense you have been posting since.
By:
You're still sitting there fuming about how some would react to a cash drop in Nepal that literally never happened.
By:
I’ll leave it there given the sensitive and tragic nature of this thread. You let your imagination run wild if you want.

Some interesting pictures/film on reddit, a guide captured some of the glacier falling from a distance with a decent camera.
But the satalite pics, some of which are very sharp show before and after of the mountain. Would say it's far from certain what happened first but the sheer volume of missing mountain is scary. Struggling to get my head around the glacier falling over 1k and instantly turning to water being the cause but if that's what the experts say once they have all the info fair enough but still plenty questions for now. |
