It's rather forced, innit, as very few are enthused to buy overpriced electric cars.
They'll need to ramp up petrol prices, find a way to charge cars cheaply away from home and then make electric cars more attractive to purchase. Musk was heading that way until he fell into Trump cult and alienated his European target audience. We had a puegot hybrid on holiday, a lovely car, but with aircon, seemed to use plenty of petrol. We do need to get away from petrol, but manufacturers have been given the burden and they've had too many petrol cars to shift to be promoting electric. |

The reason European car makers can't sell EVs is because the Chinese models are so much better and cheaper.
Unless they get our acts together the European car makers might be bust by 2030. How much to service a brand new European ICE car? £400  |

Actually,with grants,EVs at the bottom end are now at least as cheap as petrol cars. BUT the range is poor and I would guess about half the population find it impractical to charge at home.
The one European manufacturer who seems to be keeping up with the Chinese in that sector is Renault/Dacia. |

True the UK's EV infrastructure is lacking but charge times are due to plummet.
Range is determined by battery size, as is price. |

Where is the infrastucture coming from to provide all this extra electrical charging capacity, also the additional weight is said to cause a problem in multistory car parks, roads etc. In addition is there an infinite supply of lithium for batteries? All this hasn't been even looked at from the evidence I have seen to date. I'm not against EVs but I think the change is being put forward at too fast a pace imo.

The change is happening quickly because the technology is coming on leaps and bounds. But you are right, the UK is getting left behind. |

China is miles ahead, lightyears,... Folk say they do nowt but they are building more
green that anyone else (and still using fossil energy of course) Trump and the fossil fuel lobby setting everything back a few years in west, but hopefully they are just a blip that leads to faster changes down the road. Ditto the sad anti vaxxer crew. Venn diagram is very nearly a circle |
