The Metropolitan Police has agreed to pay £25,000 in compensation to Graham Linehan, the comedy writer behind Father Ted, following his detention at Heathrow Airport last September.
Scotland Yard issued an unreserved apology to the Irish-born creator, acknowledging failures in how officers handled the investigation, his arrest and the bail restrictions imposed upon him. A senior Met officer stated in correspondence that whilst all personnel involved had acted with good intentions, the review uncovered deficiencies in multiple aspects of the case. The force expressed regret for the distress and inconvenience Linehan experienced as a consequence. They got exactly what they wanted. Well worth the taxpayer funded compo and legal defence. |

It’s something I’m not familiar with apart from its use on here. I’ve never heard anybody in normal everyday conversation apart from somebody saying “ I woke up early this morning and took the dog for a walk” |

 Did you miss the BBC News main headlining that day about the so called right wing terror plot ? You may well have missed them reporting the fact the suspects had been released a few days later, because it was a very short item way down the bill. You could almost see the annoyance on the face of the newsreader as she had to read it out. |
