No.10 in the North - a complete waste of time and money!

Properly planned, a shifting of power, and staff, away from London, would be good.

But early stages will likely seem pointless.

And... It might not work.

Moving it from one centre, to another, without benefiting all, risks alienating more than it attracts.

HS2 has demonstrated that the London based "corridors of power" are at best inept and incompetent, at worst inefective and corrupt when it comes to boosting "The North".

20 years, £10's of billions spent, £100's of billions projected, all to build a railway that nobody
except foriegn construction companies particularly wants.


Dismantling and or restructuring the current infrastructure that is responsible for this massive folly would be slow and probably be derailed.


Start again, set up a new bit of infrastructure comprising of the local stake holders and less Etonians.


It's a plan, it might work, the current set up clearly isn't working.

There's definitely a number 2 in the north.

To a lot of us it is still in the south

A ludicrous vanity project, pure and simple. And all paid for by the UK Taxpayer.

This north thingy reminds me of the tv show "Our Friends In The North". But, that was a Geordie classic. A Mancheterism one to follow after the reign of Mr Burnham?
