RIP. Too many are diagnosed too late. My ex mother in law died yesterday, just
4 weeks after a tumour found and she was pronounced terminal, she'd reported
problems about a year ago. I think when they're very old, the delay in scans
and diagnosis might be deliberate, the same happened with my mother.
68 is rather different, perhaps he didn't present until too late?

Sorry for your loss Saddo. A good friend of mine got diagnosed with aggressive cancer a few years ago and was gone within a month, no signs you don’t know what’s round the corner.

Thanks, she was lovely and I'll miss her. I suspect they stall when you're past eighty,
the GP was giving my mother laxatives for well over six months instead of having her
scanned, she had stomach cancer and was gone within a fortnight of being scanned and told.

There are still 30-35% of 50-74 year olds in the general population who dont take up the free bowel cancer screening , you are all eligible in that age group .

There has been a lot of noise about testing recently. They send me sticks to
put samples on every two years, but I've just read a Daily express piece with
Dermot and two years is an eternity in regard to these matters. I gather there
is a blood test but the NHS don't want every man having it, confusion reigns.

Sorry for your loss Saddo. I would try and take that a bit further both for her and others.Being treated with laxatives for well over 6 months for cancer is terrible in itself, the real shocker is why wasn't there a follow up after say a month of laxatives,it clearly wasn't doing ang good.
