Boris resigned as an MP to stop the standards commission judgement against him.

Maybe Farage thought resignation was his only option to stop the corruption inquiry.

ben habib on sky just pointed out that the inquiry into bozo continued after his resignation and concluded that he had broken the rules and he would have been suspended from parliament for 90 days.

Why cant they finish the investigation before the by election. How long do you need?  A great example of how nothing gets done in this country in a sensible time frame.

the parliamentary rules nerds say that the investigation will be suspended but can be resumed if he re-enters parliament.

he might end up fighting another by-election if he wins the first one, is subsequently found to have broken the rules and a recall petition gets the necessary support. if this happens then it is just farcical.

good point dotchinite, sadly a very fitting metaphor.

Shame Ghandi Burnham didn't offer to put his hands in his pockets for the cost of the Makersfield by-election.
