He has single handily destroyed the Labour party
Corbyn destroyed it, made it unelectable.
Starmer somehow turned it around (Luck or skill and luck?), got it elected in 2024.
If he'd managed to improve the country as much as he did the labour party he'd be a 10+ year PM.
Corbyn secured more votes in a general election than Starmer did.
A meaningless metric given that it was of no tangible benefit to him and he actually handed Boris a huge
win.
His statement: "I have no opinion on Brexit", totally, utterly, completely destroyed the labour party's electability.
What's in it for Burnham or Labour to call one?
If Burnham wants to seriously deviate from Labour's 2024 manifesto then he should obtain a mandate.
Would people vote for a politician who didn't want an enquiry into the grooming gangs? I think not.

ah ok.
But you only vote for your MP if you're in their constituency. And they did. What he was doing 10 minutes, months or years before doesn't matter. The country voted for Labour and it's MP's decide on the leader. That's how it's always worked and how it's working now.

Why would he possibly call an election now? He'd want to spend the next 2-3 years re-building and regathering Labour, helping to restore trust and confidence in the party, letting the country get to know him, what he stands for and his policies, i.e building momentum going into nationwide vote, whilst at the same time chipping away, dampening down and picking holes in the popularity Reform have managed to build in recent years thanks to the collapse of the two-party system, hysteria of small boats crossing the channel plus the fallouts of Brexit and Covid.Calling a General Election at this moment in time when they're in a position of weakness, is Turkey's voting for Xmas stuff.Kind Regards.
Much as with Johnson, the only reason to call an early election is the belief that you'll win a big majority and extend your term. You don't do it while it's up in the air. If Farage leaves Reform (and I've backed him to do so) I could see him calling one then, but not really before.

obviously it can be done, doesn't mean it should. the question is why he doesn't have a mandate, I explained why. I didn't say he couldn't be made pm for three years. I am saying he shouldn't.
It's on Labour MPs, many of whom have fallen for the cult of Burnham, with no idea what specific policies he will implement. It goes without saying that the liberalist media have also fallen for the cult.
I'm here for the popcorn (salty variety)
Labour trying to can cancel elections they were going to lose was a new low
Boris proroguing parliament is the new low, not happened in 3 or 4 hundred years AFAIK.
