One slightly sad consequence of the forever culture wars I think.

Was walking the dog this morning, and happened upon a house with a string of England flags outside. And it struck me this was the first one I'd seen. Normally you'd see quite a few. Bars would have them. Cars would have those little ones on the back window. I'm not exactly an England fan but it was nice. Made it all a bit festive. But now?

A bit sad imo.

The progressives have labelled it racist to fly a national flag,
same has happened in Germany and probably most of Northern Europe.
They still abound in Greece.

The rainbow flag must be flown everywhere, of course.
We all have to openly prove that we love them.

I am from Ireland. Had an Ulster yellow flag and red cross flag out for the EUROS 2016, about 100  houses in the street, 30 had no flags, 1 German, 2 Spanish and 67 England flags. Now 2026.... 1 house with an England flag, only 6 houses have been sold in that time.

'A bit sad imo'

Well that's one way to describe the manufactured/weaponised destruction of centuries of culture and self identity isn't it

But that's my point.

The flag now represents right-wing self-imposed victimhood. Whereas for decades at the time of big tourneys, it just represented supporting the team and brightening up the neighbourhood in celebration of some quality football.

Wish we could go back to that. Some people are still gonna play victim, but they're getting in the way of normal people just wanting to live their lives and have a nice time.

People like you have got rid of the flag, be happy, fake sadness is pathetic
By:

But I'm not happy. Used to have the little flags on the car when the kids were little. Find it all a bit wool to do it myself in all honesty, but it's just nice to see in the sunshine.

'but it's just nice to see'

and this

I'd say it was just a tad more important to retain some measure of identity, history where you came from, your forefather's plights and struggles than just 'nice to see'

Lot more flags will be out if they progress to say the semis,i think it really needs to start for England obviously yet, could snowball pending on results.

But you still have your identity. You still know (some of) your history. You can still weally weally care about those things and seeing a few too many brown faces around. I was just struck this morning that a seemingly normal thing, enjoyed by many families seems to have been hijacked by some loons who have decided it only represents them from now on, meaning normal peopl see that representation too and want no part of it.

I mean, a "patriot" would probably feel deep shame at doing this to fellow countrymen wouldn't he?

The sheer lack of awareness and just forward focus on here and now Guardian headlines

Try looking left and right when you think - how did we get here and where is it going - lateral thought

eg : Where will this be in 1/2 more generations ?

Do you think we could have still been kindly to the influx and retain our own history ?

It's called social engineering and there are reasons for it happening - not just that we have open hearts, minds and therefore arms to all and sundry

That's the easy sell and they've played you like a fiddle

Simple rule of thumb. Conservatives like to conserve things how they are. Progressives like to change things to ‘make them better’.

So the unintended consequences of change is usually the progressives fault

Gaurdian headlines?

wotchoo even talking about?

Some of us aren't terrified about people from other countries though. We find some of those people are ok actually. Just as some Brits are ok. As for the tinfoil stuff, I'll let your victimhood take you where it will. I just wanted to make a small point about how the country is a less colourful place right now and it's a little sad.

The absence of England flags around towns and cities couldn't possibly have anything to do with people pretending they cause "division and fear" could it?

Put a flag up if you want and tell the council or neighbours to bolt if they complain.
I personally wouldn’t do it because it’s not going to help you’re team win on pitch in USA.

Why would flying a Scottish flag, in Scotland, potentially cause “unintended offence” to colleagues?

Perhaps one of the Progressive Cognoscenti could enlighten us?

Not all, but most. Expressing national pride is scorned at and denigrated by supporters of
the mass immigration industry. That's why I found this thread so puzzling.

That's why I found this thread so puzzling.

Indeed. It does seem curious as to why the outcome Progressives have striven over for decades should seemingly now be such a disappointment to them.

No doubt by World Cup 2030 they will be claiming that the absence of flags will have been nowt to do with them in the first place. (See also "Open Borders"/DEI/Trans Ideology etc).

To be fair, there were two students wearing England tops yesterday, and by my old house there were two houses with England flags, and one with a Spain flag. Still hardly a patch on a couple of years ago though.
