The highest temperatures recorded in May is 32.8°C, with several notable occurrences. These include readings at Camden Square and Greenwich in Greater London during May 1922, as well as across parts of southeast England including Tunbridge Wells and Horsham during late May 1944.

1922 As well

Yet some people won't heed warnings and die.

You can't sanitise everything donny, some young uns
will find a reservoir or river irresistable in hot
weather, it's always been thus. The odd casualty
has to be accepted in the pursuit of fun, as sad
as it is for connections.

Err, well yeah, of course you can lead a horse
to water but you can't make it drink.

I'm not for forcing anybody, but reminders are good.

Remember to check in on elderly folk, etc etc,

And yeah, still we will get a spike in deaths

I'll be in Vegas on Friday where its 35+ everyday without fail and there are several million people walking up and down the strip each week without many or any fatalities. You'd think its never been hot but we've had longer periods than this (1976 anyone) and after next week it will be back down to average. Enjoy it while its here as it may be the only sun we get knowing this country.

it's illogical to think that warnings are aimed at you.

There are some people who need a reminder.

Live long and prosper.

YTHL is right,in 27deg + older people get a whack off the heat, too long in it and it affects me anyway, going from feeling ok to being in 'trouble' is quite quick and missing that is the point.
A fair defence.

Don’t worry about it nanny, I’m mad myself I can assure you but everything about this forum seems to be negative, very rarely anybody posts anything positive. That’s not good for people’s mental health.
There must be some good things happening.
I will post something positive it’s not really political but it can be because it’s against ageism, a 74 year old man came out of retirement to win 2 trophies for his club, a billionaire had to turn to him to get him out of trouble.
If you are sharp  enough mentally you are never too old to work.

There's an abundance of positive stuff on the Politics forum, MALAY. The local elections were epic, and they only happened earlier this month.

many of us are enjoying the rapid downfall of 2tk.

The argument of the OP is applicable here isn't it. Rare great weather for bank holiday weekend in England used to be welcomed. Sunny and warm weather is joyous and precious. The gaslighting from the authorities is instead determined to scare people away from enjoying it.

It's a fantastic betting event. The in running, when the points are announced is the best hour of betting in the year. nobody needs to be an expert in EV to participate, it's much more about maths and strategy.

I hope it gets warm in Ireland. In fairness it’s been ok, my pet dogs have been groomed, they will just need to shelter from heat and plenty water.
However I will be delighted with warm weather saves you paying thousands to go to Spain for a good colour on my skin.

We were walking along the river Calder this morning and got
talking to some young lads, 11 or 12 yo. They swim in the river
a lot and I advised them that I wouldn't let my granddaughter near
it due to potential sewage contamination. They didn't care at all,
about temperature or sewage. I wished them well.

The body of a 15-year-old boy has been found after he went missing in a lake in Lincoln, police have said.

Emergency crews were earlier called to reports of a boy getting into difficulty at Swanholme Lakes at about 14:30 BST on Sunday.

Tragic
