All ancient empires and countries minted their own currencies. There have been troves found with coins from the Roman empire mixed in with coins minted in the 1400s.

Then they kept the precious metal and gave you paper Then they didn't have the metal but gave you paper Now they are giving paper to buy the metal back... |
