A few polling companies have asked questions, can't see it myself.

Poll is on thread a pinch of salt.

Polling company not the best, but often quoted by refuk.

Hardly surprising, people want things fixed.
Burnham has allegedly fixed things in Manchester, so he brings some optimism he might make thing better for UK.

Reform have a problem because they only point and shout at problems, they never come along with solutions, The don't campaign on a manifesto of fixing the economy, fixing the NHS, social care, education or fixing anything.
Lots of newly elected reform councillors are resigning because they don't want the job of actually fixing things.

True

The £100million spent on an axed "clean-air zone" in Manchester could cost Andy Burnham his Westminster seat, critics have warned.

The Mayor of Greater Manchester suffered major backlash from drivers after suggesting a Sadiq Khan-style Ulez scheme in the city.

The project cost the taxpayer £100million before it was scrapped, with money spent on 462 cameras with automatic number-plate recognition technology.

My friends in Manchester say the cameras are still up, but currently just aesthetic :)

He's dead popular.

Starmer's dead unpopular.

It's not exactly rocket science that changing one for the other would lead to a boost.
Report Cider May 20, 2026 6:02 PM BST
hmmm, the labour party is the common denominator.

In the short term, it depends upon whether people believe the gaslighting or not. Boris was a brand and I made a lot of money out of it. I'm not sold that Burnham is, he didn't make any waves when he was in government or failed leadership attempts. He benefits from being outside of the tent.

Saw this yesterday...

A Blairite, a Brownite & a Corbynite walked into a bar.
The barman said "Hi Andy!"
Report Escapee May 21, 2026 12:18 AM BST
It wasn't funny yesterday, or last week when someone else posted it.

It's propaganda echo chamber fodder, but obviously algorithmically fantastic because you're the 2nd person to post it.

If any of them walked into a bar, none of them would stick their hand in their pocket and buy a round.
But AI isn't that clever, and doesn't need to be judging by the guffaws it's got from your post.

Just fix the country, normal people are sick of these culture war deflections.

A Blairite, a Brownite & a Corbynite

Irrelevant 2nd rate has beens from 10-20 years ago, or as reformUK would put it "A topical joke"

Just fix the NHS, fix the justice system (5 years to get to trial, early release of rap**ts wtf), invest in the country, stop the boats, stop sucking up to **A and *****L.

Oops, touched a nerve there. Got any good Brexit jokes instead? Seems the jogging guy can't make his mind up, though any line will do so long as it gets him the job. Almost as bad as Farage but that's still a reach... just.
Report Escapee May 21, 2026 1:41 AM BST
can't make much sense of that^^

maybe you're trying to retreat to some sort of moral high ground?

Anyway lets go back to the "joke", that's the gold you've revealed
You're the 2nd person to post it.

It doesn't take much intelligence to see it's got virality, but why?

It just isn't funny, it's a "demons under the bed" soundbite, no one is laughing, but it roused you and the previous poster.

why does it resonate with you and a multitude of others?

That's the gold

POLLS are all over the place since the local elections. I'm sure that Unai Emery would come top in parts of Birmingham. The amount of goodies dolled out yesterday might even put Starmer top until people realise that it is the taxpayers who fund them.
Report Cider May 21, 2026 12:26 PM BST
Escapee getting precious about a joke, now that is funny.

Apparently it's a joke that has been knocking around the Westminster bubble for years. As with many jokes, there's more than a grain of truth in it, and Burnham is no different to Starmer. Whatever it takes to climb the next rung of the ladder. I suppose the main difference is that Burnham is already a proven failure.

And now Ms Reeves is busy bringing down costs during the summer break. Note it is the Duty on imported food that is being cut which will of course adversely affect UK farmers. Meanwhile it is British farmers who are having to pay soaring prices for fertilizer and sprays (if there is any available) so home food production will fall further. No help for them of course. So parents can take their children on a free bus ride to a cheaper attraction with its VAT content reduced. Great for parents, bad for those who don't have children but have to pay for these sweeties through higher tax or interest rates. Is there a by election coming soon?

A racist, an antisemite, a tax dodger, and a fascist walked into a pub

The barman says hop it nige
