Nigel Farage was given £5m by the crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne shortly before announcing he would stand in the 2024 British general election, the Guardian can reveal.

It's not whataboutery, calling you out on your palpable hypocrisy.

Please bring back any of your posts criticising Starmer's cronyism in actual government.

Farage had no power to do anything in 2024, and was never going to be in government. Unlike the Labour party handing out massive pay rises to their union buddies before they had even sat behind a desk.

Something on this, perhaps?

So her son, a Labour MP, was gifted £10k by Lord Alli. The same Lord Alli who was then personally authorised a Downing Street Pass by ole Sue...

My question is about whether the guy who moved to Thailand would want anything in return for giving Farage £5m. Farage has said no. Do you believe him?

And one guy who doesn't even live here, but moved to Thailand and is "intensely private" about his home life more than doubles that to a person. Never mind the £9m to the party.

At least we know that unions want the best deal for their millions of working class members who pay their £3 subs. The relationship's transparent and has been since the party formed. But apparently this guy just wants Reform to do well. Because I've got brains.

Your argument makes no sense. It's perfectly ok for unions to get something in exchange for massive donations. But even the prospect of this chap's donation to an entity that has no power, and won't have any for years, and you have no idea if they even want anything back, and if they do, what it is, gets you exercised. ok Happy
Report PorcupineorPineapple April 29, 2026 3:36 PM BST
Yes, unions represent millions of voters.

That is different to some individual who doesn't live here doing the same.

The first female general secretary of the Unite union is clear about her priorities: “jobs, pay, and conditionsâ€. She is also convinced that Labour is failing to improve all three.

Unite is one of the party’s biggest financial and political backers, but Sharon Graham says Labour has strayed from its working class roots. Now she is threatening to pull the union’s funding for the party entirely.

In a wide-ranging interview, she tells Kamal Ahmed where Starmer is going wrong; why Reform’s Nigel Farage “puts his finger on the pulseâ€; and the future of Unite’s relationship with Labour.

Graham also weighs in on whether immigration is too high and the recent Unite the Kingdom march led by Tommy Robinson.

Extraordinary allegations from Ben Habib

Ben Habib alleges that Nigel Farage & Boris Johnson were paid £1m each by Christopher Harborne to essentially rig the election in favour of Johnson. He also claims the undeclared £5m "gift" received in 2024 from Harborne was payment for Farage to take over as party leader of Reform UK and stand in Claction.

The main things I learnt working with @Nigel_Farage
1.  His word is not his bond.
2. He does not write emails - no paper trail.
3. He has zero ability to do any detail: 1-hour meetings turn into 56 minutes of Nigel talking about Nigel and 4 mins on the subject the meeting was about.
4. Nigel has no real friends - everyone and everything is expendable.
5. Nigel has enormous energy, but a lot of it is wasted because he drinks and parties too much.
6. Nigel is not an intellectual - he thinks Jordan Peterton is boring.
7.  Nigel has spies.
8. Nigel loves money and spends it like water.
9. Nigel surrounds himself with rather facile young men like the convicted posh George.
10. Nigel does not really like working if it is not him being a showman - I cannot even imagine him reading a policy paper.
11. Nigel dictates tweets to Dan Dukes.
12. Nigel has a powerful lawyer behind the scenes who keeps files on people.
13. Nigel is vicious -  the plastic sheen is a facade that cons so many people.
14. No idea if Nigel actually has any morality or values or what he believes in except fame and money.
