Why would you call yourself Ronaldmcdonald if you didn't even live in America? I suppose is the dumb base of my assumption.

If you live in the Uk, you could not fail to be embarrassed by Trump's humiliation of Britain.

What would make it even worse would be if the UK Govt responds submissively to the abuse. Yet if British forces back him up, now, we will suffer the casualties while the orange-man-baby gets the credit.

What does that even mean? Why would either administration have anything to do with a forum clown?

Starmer made a big effort to flatter Trump. Cringe.

what a completely childish opening post - its not about picking sides - you can support the UK but still want to have diplomatic relations with the USA

Its like being in the playground - the bully has been saying mean things to the wimpy kid but is still protecting the wimpy kid from the other bullies. Remember the old saying sticks and stones etc
Whilst European countries have outsourced their defense to the US they will always be in a weak position. Even
Obama pointed out that some European countries were taking the p5ss out of the US taxpayer

This is international diplomacy and the relationship between countries such as the USA and the UK transcends PMs and presidents. Trump will be gone in 3 years or so. The relationship between the UK and the US is a key one and needs to be maintained even if there are disagreements
We still have diplomatic relations with countries like China and they have modern day slavery

Good luck to the king on his diplomatic visit - remember its good to talk
Report lapsy pa April 1, 2026 11:39 AM BST
It is heading that way though ie Trump basically doing what he wants like tariffs,Greenland and Iran.
There is going to be a mess with Iran in particular, the Straits probably won't be the same again as Iran passed 'toll' measures and of course the economic fall out which will hit everyones pocket. Trump is directly  responsible and the world pays.
Good to talk but Trump started Iran during 'talks' so not really applicable,he being kind lacks consistency.
If we knew what we know now the better course would have been a worldwide united front against the tariffs,it would have for the want of a better phrase 'softened his cough'
Who knows what he will do tomorrow?
Report CLYDEBANK29 April 1, 2026 12:03 PM BST
The US relationship is ofc important but the "Special" relationship with the UK and the US probably doesn't exist in any meaningful way.  Biden always seemed a little anti British, and I suspect whoever gets elected next won't give a damn too.

Because trust is so important, we should be concentrating more on building closer relationships with Europe and The Commonwealth.  I suspect we are behind the scenes.

Thank god Starmer is in charge right now,
imagine if Badenoch or Farage were leading the country

they would do anything for this crazy president, there would
be an absolute blood bath going on right now with
most of the deaths being British soldiers getting picked off on the Strait of Hormuz
Report Ronaldmcdonald April 1, 2026 12:42 PM BST
If Keith wasn't such a bonehead he would have helped clear the strait. Tony wouldn't have said no, he loved a war. It matters much more to a net importer of energy than it does to USA.
Report big dunc April 1, 2026 12:49 PM BST
You really have no clue at all Ronny, those straits are 13 miles wide,
you send a ship to escort an oil tanker carrying a million gallons of oil and and you will blown to pieces

that's why Trump won't send his ships there, the yanks would destroy him if he got massive casualties

Have to agree. The OP a few years back was obsessed with Brexit, morning, noon and night. Now it's Trump. Issue hopping and need to get that dopamine hit. Less concerned with the issue itself and more with visibility and engagement, I wonder. Whatever drives you, I suppose.

13 miles? And there's me thinking they were thousands of miles wide. There are many things that can be done Dunc to help open the strait that don't require anyone getting blown to pieces.

Starmer is a globalist lackie he isn’t bothered about this country, he cares perhaps about what the EU want

He said ‘committed to nato’
What he meant was ‘reliant on nato….which means reliant on USA’
Because all the managed decline has left the UK without our own provision, without a military that has any pride and an appeasement that relies on some really questionable regimes to provide energy.

Trump said get those pile fields back working again because you will need them

Forget all the righteous nonsense about ‘leading the way’ is woke rubbish
Get back some national pride.

Trump has to offer comment on every damn thing continually
Putin doesn’t, the IRGC and Hamas dont

Non of the others have to keep people happy, they don’t have investors or clients or allies that need some degree of reassurance continually

Trump, and other democracies, do have a requirement to wet nurse a needy electorate, and provide a degree of guaranteed living standards
Because the West has become dependent and have lost all concept of reality
Our whole history is based in the majority struggling, and swathes dying young or killed in wars
Quite where we have to now be reassured all the time into believing our lives are more worthwhile is a mystery.

The West is fat, mostly useless and slow.
Yet continually need reassuring

Just on the subject of oil and gas I see some EU countries are still importing significant amounts of Russian oil and gas after 4 years of the war thereby funding Putins war in Ukraine. This continually passes people by. Yes thats still circa $21.9bn after 4 years of the war. To be fair they give Ukraine about $19bn so I suppose that sort of squares things up

An option for the EU might be to increase that supply given the current problems - who would notice

The wonderful EU with Ukranian blood on their hands

EU energy ministers backed a proposal to phase out Russian oil and gas imports to the bloc by January 2028, the Council of the European Union said.

Yes Jan 2028 and that still has to get through the European Parliament

That is really most unfair. I care about the people of Gaza in the same way I would care about the people of Greater Merseyside if Israel dropped 100,000 tonnes of explosives on them.
The question is more why your type turn a blind eye to it.
