Severe 'chest crisis' & on oxygen.

Has anyone thought of giving this saint who maybe soon getting a one to one talk with his loving boss, a list of things
he could ask his loving boss  to do help all those people the boss loves and they love him back?

This boss doesn't like showing any PDA, but still he could just do it incognito, he doesn't have to show he loves the people who love him publicly, he could help them all anonymously.

He has been a good Pope, tried his best to rid the scum out the church, unlike others in past and distant past.
Not a job I'd want, particularly in current world.

OK, he's a man, you're right.

But he's not a man is he, He's either,
a) In the top job of an organisation that has been the dominant world power in the western world for over 1,000 years.
This snake oil selling corporation has caused and is still causing, uncountable numbers of deaths, wars, inflicted torture, pain & suffering and death on those who questioned their business model for 1,000 years.

Or b) if he's not a man, he's about to join his boss for an eternity at the top table, so he should
have a word and ask this loving boss to do a bit of loving.

It existence relies on indoctrination of the very very young, There's not enough people who
would buy the snake oil if it wasn't drummed into them from birth.
it takes masses of money from the poor peasants and gives it to the rich.
It sells timeshares in the afterlife to the indoctrinated.

It sells a loving god that shows no love, absolutely none at all, to the living.

If you look at their brochures, this guy is literally the voice of the omnipotent being on earth.
The blurb says he is in direct contact with it, a 2 way conversation.

I'm not backing off of my disgust, just because he's about to be eternally happy and glorious in his villa in the sky.

They're about to spend a humongous amount of money on his final party, the amount is
so large, it could feed and or educate 100,000's if not millions of starving for a year.

But nah, they'll get out all their gold jewellery and hocus pocus golden wands, put on their £100,000 dresses, close down Rome for a week or two. Channel almost all the police & security forces resources for a week or two on ensuring there's no one coming to the party who's not on the guest list.

£100's of millions will be spent on jet's, accommodation, security etc,  transporting the top table invitees from the 4 corners to the party.

They should be ashamed of themselves, but no, the indoctrination is so strong that the believers who've bought the timeshares, come all the way to this thread trying to cast shame on the disbelievers.

^ That's the worst of it and i'm not arguing against that.
A lot of people would have faith as such, indoctrinated as such yes but also free will, many are good people who practice the so called Christian values and fair play to them.
The man is very sick and it probably isn't the time for too much criticism.

Have just reread Conclave (Robert Harris ) and the film just won awards (I wont be watching that ) . Its a really good yarn and am sure factually correct , but also sure sure anything occuring  soon wont have the same contrived ending .(New pope a female brought up as a male , not discovered until final vote , gets eleced ).

Francis is the leader of our faith, I think he has done good job, regarding spending on his ultimate death celebrations, that money will already be in bank, and Rome will actually profit from visitors.
It won't be myself visiting, I am not a fanatic but I still go to church every day when I can. Catholic or non Catholic were I am, there isn't much difference lads.

I understand I am breaking social norms, and this guy did not lead the pillaging, nor did he live and sleep in the room directly above the room where his organisations £Trillion (todays money) in gold and treasure was stored with the only access being a trap door under his bed, like the previous top job holders did in the 1300's, They literally lived and slept atop their mountain of gold.

But my conscience, my own attempts to be a nice person every day without the promise of profit and an eternity of bliss, It prevents me from looking the other way, just because the head of this
Mafiosi organisation is is on his deathbed. He had his chance, and the power to show repentance
for his corporations atrocities, he could have changed the world for the better, and didn't
because he choose not to.

So I hold up my sign with "We are not amused" on it.
and I hope you understand why I break this social norm without any respect to the humanity of
the mans last moments.

As this is a betting forum it will be interesting to see betting on his replacement.

The Catholic Church is definitely anti woke in most areas, but they are also against corporate greed.

Corporate greed people hate woke and workers rights, the 2 are interlinked.

Good market paddy power.

I would not like to price it up.Excited

I'm not passing judgement or arguing as said i agree with a lot of what you are saying. I do think think Pope is a 'good man' so to speak and would be unsure if he had a lot to do with the call it commercial side of things.
I think your views would have a historical basis mostly, simply for the fact the Catholic church is struggling with attendance, the grip of the clergy on society is long gone,30/40 years in Europe anyway,Latin America probably has waned, possibly Africa may be an exception.

Dealing with Ireland specifically the church had way too much clout probably up to the 90's. I have met more good Priests and Christian Brothers many times over bad ones. I would certainly think (Irish) society is worse off than the 80's/90's though drugs, technology, even a better economy would be more at fault than a loss of spirituality.Matter of fact it is losing its soul(sic).

It wasn't all bad.

From the whitewashed wikipedia version of history, now casting her as a myth (lol at the irony)
There are many accounts of her being murdered in the streets by a mob in the minutes after she gave birth during a procession.

Pope Joan (Ioannes Anglicus, 855–857) is a legend about a woman who purportedly reigned as pope for two years during the Middle Ages.[1] Her story first appeared in chronicles in the 13th century and subsequently spread throughout Europe. The story was widely believed for centuries, but most modern scholars regard it as fictional.[2][3][4]

Most versions of her story describe her as a talented and learned woman who disguised herself as a man, often at the behest of a lover. In the most common accounts, owing to her abilities she rose through the church hierarchy and was eventually elected pope. Her sex was revealed when she gave birth during a procession *1 and she died shortly after, either through murder or natural causes. The accounts state that later church processions avoided this spot and that the Vatican removed the female pope from its official lists and crafted *2 a ritual to ensure that future popes were male.[5][6] In the 16th century, Siena Cathedral featured a bust of Joan among other pontiffs; this was removed after protests in 1600.[7]

*1 Murdered and torn to pieces by a mob.

*2 This ritual referred to is a Throne with a hole in the seat, where the Job Applicant must go commando and sit upon it clothed in his robes, with his equipment dangling thru the hole.
A package check is then performed by several bishops standing or kneeling behind the throne.

I think you don't understand the genres of cover versions.

Either they try and imitate the original to perfection (why bother) Or the artist tries to
sing it, adding their own unique take to the original artwork in an attempt recreate it from a different frame of reference to the original artists perspective.

This goes on and on all the time, West Side Story is a cover version of Romeo & Juliet etc.

My question is why ?

Because they no longer own everything and everybody like they have done for the previous 1,000 years.

Sure, they can take offence, and demand that Monty Python be prosecuted for the Life of Brian and they still had enough ownership of everybody and everything to get a lot of TV time and media urging that it be banned and Cleese et al should be stoned to death or imprisoned.

But today they can FRO with their laws and social norms claiming everyone has to defer to their book club.

I don't hear you saying that the terrorist attacks, because the other major book club think they own everybody and every thought and thus took offence to a cartoon of their own feckwit are justified in any way.

If you want to claim Jayzuz owns my thoughts and limit's my POV, then what's the difference between you and the snack bar mob?

I am not in any book club, and I pay no deference to them because they pay no deference to me and my own short life on this planet.
They can all FO, or show me the respect they want shown to them, and everyone can live and let live.

His point is clearly that one religion, and one only, is beyond parody and poking fun.
No one dare do it and, like you, most would rather not discuss the obvious discrepancy.

Few days ago he wrote a note to his well wishers, thanking them and asking them to pray for him

He's the guy with a direct line to his deity, why is he asking others to contact the almighty on his behalf?

Sounds like he doesn't believe his own company's book himself.
