The Telegraph have just realised £100k a year doesn't make you rich.

What can rich people do that plebs can't?

100k gross is scalped for nearly 32k in taxes/ni, so 68k a year in 'pay packet'. and then most people will need to use a fair bit of that for pension contributions. so maybe 50k, then all fixed costs and other taxes (eg CT). depending on where you live, could easily be practically less than 'rich'.

I went out once with an incredibly wealthy widow. She invited me out for coffee. Didn't recognise where we were going. Once we arrived at Elstree aerodrome she said "Did I mention the coffee shop is in Florence!" Difficult to beat that although I'm sure someone else on here can!

To be frank, £100,000 a year salary isn't enough to buy you a decent size house and a supercar in London these days..

The real rich are eccentric, have no concept of current news and  affairs, often dress oddly but if scrubbed up brown cords /yellow shirt /red cravat might feature they  care not a jot what others think about anything.
