Countryfile did an episode a few years ago now, titled 'Is the countryside racist', I haven't watched it since.

I would think the countryside was welcoming if you wished to integrate ,maybe daunting if you don't.
Possibly even confusing as we generally use our machetes/rifles/shot guns for brambles/deer/pheasants in that order and this would apply to whites , ,blacks ,browns or purples equally.
I have heard talk of a north/south divide and never saw it ,the divide is undoubtedly urban/rural.
Countryside was a favourite, with the excellent Adam Henson until it was ambushed by the student politics, editors and script writers for  metropolitan progressives' propaganda ,now it is unwatchable toilet.

I blame Emmerdale, village of sanctuary.

The theme that we can use prime agricultural ground for house building (500,000 units pa suggested) ,for windmills and solar panels ,for rewilding and wild flower meadows ,carbon sequestration and the rest of the hippy vomit .............has an obvious flaw ,the millions of rapidly expanding breeders and newcomers will have fa to eat.

What about The Archers Saddo, does anybody listen to it?

Not I Foin. Emmerdale has carefully avoided Muslims but they have blacks, Indians and the full set of
the acronym mob. Is the Archers set in a similar village?

Ambridge is supposed to be a farming village in the Midlands. My parents listened to it but I left home during the 1960s and haven't heard an episode since. There used to be a colourful character called Walter Gabriel back then, presumably long since dead. As it's on BBC radio I was wondering if it had absorbed modern left progressive values.
I remember a fast moving radio serial that preceded the Archers called Dick Barton Special Agent, which was much better in my opinion.

no one said the countryside is racist, just as there was no plan to rename gladstone park nor any child self identifying as a cat. i pity all the saps who fall for this sh1t, they have a search function which would easily show them the truth but it is all too hard.

BBC Countryfile did, June 2020.

Is that the entire context and was it concluded that the countryside is definitely more racist than other parts of the country?

'Cuz at the end of the day I never get the obsession that some English people get with being called racist. I'm racist, you are racist, the pope is racist - everyone is racist.

What's the big deal and makes people seemingly throw hissy fits about it?

I think the countryside of the UK is British, not racist. The countryside of the UK represents and reflects the British way of life and thinking. For that it cannot be accused of being racist. This is Britain.

i was in the new forest last week and did not see one black person. i confirm this forest is racist

but i did see at least 8 people of indian origin. so it is racist against one group but wholly in favour of another. pro-indian heritage but anti all others. i think thats it. them trees are funny like that

The accusation was made by "wildlife and countryside link" representing woke charities to a APPG.....
All party parliamentary group for race and community (more wokery).
The accusations were specific and detailed and funny and we still don't gaf.

Country folk aren't really racist. They hate all strangers equally!

I firmly believe country folks care for their homeland and their own. They also like the "visitors" who buy in and live there (not too many though to change the dynamics). However, not those who buy in and do not live in; the holiday or investment brigade. These newly arrived only drive up prices of the homeland beyond the affordability of the younger country folks turning it into ghost towns or villages for long periods of the year.

This is similar to some of the newly arrived "visitors" in this country who choose to live in clusters; speak their own languages; do not integrate or adopt/accept the British way of life and customs driving up property prices beyond the affordability of the locals.

I agree with the last two posts and one last point:
In many rural constituencies where libs and these slimy left wing Tories compete in a two horse race.........
The NIMBY vote is all powerful and will be about which party is seen to oppose planning permissions most actively ,who will build least new estates and migrant flats.
At national level dead davey says he will build 380,000 units, the cons 200,000 these political boasts are not reflected at local level where they pledge to oppose and keep the status quo. Rightly or wrongly opposing cheap housing because what it will bring.
This causation was behind the electoral defeats in trad' con seats near the HS2 debacle to the block everything libs.

My neighbour went to Dovedale stepping stones yesterday, and today told me she was horrified at what she and the kids saw. I thought
she might be exaggerating so I checked trip advisor reviews and she certainly was not, it's turned quite hellish. Nobby might like it.
