I have just noticed that he is 5th favourite!

Surely it must be about 10,000-1 (or more) against him becoming a Tory MP, let alone leading the party?

Can anybody see a route by which this could happen? I sure as heck cannot imagine a mechanism by which this could come about.

Don’t like you choices Dotchinite.

But we have seen some made things so who knows.

I would favour Bravaman from the extreme nutjob wing of the Tories over a Tory enemy like posh boy Farridge. He is even more marmite than Suella.

But it depends if there is someone in the centre right the Tories can unite around. That can’t be Cameron.

The Tories are surely aware that Reece Smugg is poisonous electorally.

Patel is surely damaged goods with all her ministerial rule breaking and again poisonous electorally.

I’d be on Kemi or Mordaunt. They seem to have not been proven sleaze merchants which is something.

It's astounding
Time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely
Not for very much longer
I've got to keep control

I remember doing the Time Warp
Drinking those moments when
The blackness would hit me
And the void would be calling

Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again

It's just a jump to the right
And then a step to the right
Put your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight

But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane
Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again

There's  a break away tory party called Reform, once Farage, Braverman, Pritti, Boris and Lee Anderson jump ship to them.
They could form a Government, i don't think Farage needs Boris, but he thinks he does.

Yes

You would start to get into a situation where no party had a majority unless all the tories defected en masse to Reform.

But even after the latest brief period of "calm" eg no change of PM, apart from Hunt, Gove and Mordaunt, the experience of Government is very limited. And there is even less in the Labour party. Starmer and Cooper, that is about it. The Civil Servants in the Cabinet office will be licking their lips whoever wins the poisoned chalice next. They can tell the Boris intake of Ministers anything they like and not be contradicted. Raab, Sunak, Hancock, Badenoch, Braverman, Shapps all just out of primary school in parliamentary terms.

Farage tried and failed several times to win a seat when with UKIP, he couldn't get elected anywhere in targeted constituencies, laughable to think he could be an MP now
Report Dr Crippen December 11, 2023 6:41 PM GMT
It's not laughable at all. It's your knowledge of general elections that's laughable.

If Farage stood for the Tories in a safe in different times he'd be a shoo in. People vote for the party at general elections not the personality.

Report scandanavian_haven December 12, 2023 12:36 AM GMT
Farage's popularity was at it's absolutely peak when UKIP had grown so much it spooked Cameron into giving a referendum, Farage still couldn't get himself elected, several times, even under the Tory Umbrella, he'd still struggle because he's still not seen as mainstream and still seen as that Anti Immigrant guy by the casuals, you have to be close to centre ground to stand a good chance of election and your friend Nigel isn't perceived to be that.

So again, he wouldn't win a seat in any party.
Report scandanavian_haven December 12, 2023 12:38 AM GMT

You could say exactly the same for Lineaker.

Young Gary wants everyone who rocks up on a Kent beach to be housed and taken are of by UK tax payers.

He's not remotely interested if they are genuine refugees fleeing conflict or criminals looking for richer spoils. We must take everyone or he'll get very angry and sign an open letter.

Certainly. Lineker has opposed every attempt by the government to deport illegal immigrants and he is completely silent on criminals abusing Uk tax payers.

Report SirNorbertClarke December 12, 2023 12:41 PM GMT
Lineker would be on far firmer ground and more in tune with the public is he castigated the government for not quickly weeding out criminals and other illegal economic migrants and deporting them back to where they came from or Rwanda.

It's illegal to send migrants to Rwanda.

Rwanda will abide by rulings from echr, even if uk
passes legislation to ignore echr.

We can send flight... It won't be allowed to land as it stands

Maybe Doctor Death has a solution.

what annoys me so much about these people who want to accept more and more migrants is that they don't have to suffer the consequences. I doubt if Gary Lineker has to put himself on a waiting list for a house, a GP appointment, an operation or anything else and nor do most of his fellow travellers. They seem to have a complete blind spot about reality. They could provide employment and accommodation for some of the migrants themselves but they won't. What they should be campaigning about is the corrupt and incompetent Governments in the countries from which the migrants originate.
Meanwhile France, Germany and other EU countries are scrambling to tighten their own migrant rules as they are all facing the same crisis.
Report yak hunt December 13, 2023 8:41 AM GMT

2 million migrants available from palestine/gaza

We can make their homeland safe so they want to stay.

Lineker seems engaged in that... More than most.

Not sure that turning their homeland into another

politicians on the take.

Going from potless in parliament to paying £3.8million
