She works with autistic adults in a fairly low paid job and since brexit and the new rules it has been a nightmare just filling the gaps. BRITS DON'T WANT TO DO THE **** JOBS!!! FOREIGNERS DO AND ARE WILLING!!

Wonder where the care industry could find workers, shame there isn’t anybody in the U.K. The UK unemployment rate was 4.2%, and 1.45 million people aged 16+ were unemployed. Unemployment levels stayed at a similar level to the last quarter but increased by 224,000 on the year and were 72,000 above pre-pandemic levels. 8.73 million people aged 16-64 were economically inactive, and the inactivity rate was 20.9%. Inactivity levels rose by 33,000 from the previous quarter but fell by 272,000 in the last year. The wages or rates for HGV professional drivers ,were suppressed by a huge pool of cheap labour ,mainly from Eastern Europe ,who came in uncounted but legally ,this happened for decades.
After we left the EU ,there were shortages of drivers but wages rose steeply and UK workers ,upgraded and trained and the situation righted itself very quickly. The same has to happen for the very important care workers ,say cost of living rise +2.50 per hour pa ,for the next two years. Where the money comes from is harder to decide but it must be found. |

Lloyd Fraser, one of the UK's largest milk haulage firms, has entered administration according to the BBC. The situation leaves employees at the company's Four Crosses depot concerned for their jobs. The same can be said of those working for Steve Porter and Knights of Old from the KNP Logistics Group, as well as Glasgow Car Movers, who have all recently gone into administration. The sad news all broke last week, making it a particularly tough 7 days for the UK haulage industry.

Where the money comes from is harder to decide but it must be found.
Ultimately, it will come from the taxpayer and service users (where they are fully or partly self-funding). |

What's obvious is that with immigration higher than ever, the immigrants aren't taking the jobs we're supposed to be importing them to do.

Many care homes will go bust ,if the wages go up steeply as I suggest but the wages must go up to maintain or create a differential between hardworking and valued workers and the unemployed and unemployable by choice.
I would also suggest though it is unfortunate for those involved ,the laid off workers, will find similar work very quickly. Remember very recently contractors were paying big signing on fees for good HGV drivers |

Wages in care sector are too low to import labour.
Taking back control. Had this same thread, almost, last week. Can kicked down the road by all parties. At some point care sector needs to become priority. Crippens sitting in sh1te all day until the right colour immigrant comes to give him his bed bath... |

19,000 fewer working in carehomes due to the vaccine mandates in 2021 didnt help. Wages and conditions need to improve to encourage people into the sector.

Indeed the rises are inflationary but the huge % wage rises given to construction workers ,HGV drivers and many other sectors artificially suppressed by hordes of EU cheap labour "slaves" were and are absorbed ,so why should they not be in the care sector.
When you have a guy ,say a brickie on £150 a day ,exactly what one would earn in 1983 ,paying indirect and direct tax ,council tax ,road tax ,bbc tax ,every bloody tax..........competing basically with a lad from Romania ,flown in by a gangster gangmaster ,living in a tent or 6 to a room paying or buying fa on buttons. The problem is the construction wages and HGV rises were forced by the "free market economy" the care sector ,would need state intervention by the lab or con democratically elected government ,good for me. |
