An Algerian stabs kids, and the police say we know who it is but we aint going to arrest him, cos he is in hospital being taken care of.

"Meanwhile, the adult man, aged in his late 40s, is in a serious but stable condition in a hospital in the Dublin Region. Garda said he remains a “person of interest” in its inquiries as the force continues to investigate the knife attack."

“People were trying to attack the man so me and an American lady, we formed a ring around the man, and then about three minutes later the ambulance came for the children and then another ambulance and fire officers came for the man on the ground.”

Report irishone November 25, 2023 7:07 PM GMT
"The situation in Dublin yesterday – in which five people were injured in a knife attack in the heart of the city, resulting in a riot and violent clashes with the police – was to the untrained eye reminiscent of Belfast from days gone by.

Speculation about the nationality of the attacker fuelled the scenes of violence which took place last night and that has led to condemnatory tutting. After all, Ireland’s national myth is tied into tales of immigration and welcoming. A riot over immigration in its capital city contradicts the stories Ireland tells the world about itself.

The instinct, almost reflex reaction of the establishment, was to deploy the term ‘far right’. The commissioner of the Garda, Drew Harris, said that a ‘hooligan faction driven by a far-right ideology’ were to blame.

There’s no doubt that far-right elements were involved in the violence. But it is too easy for a society and a governing class, frantically obsessed with positioning itself as a good global citizen, to blame this unseemliness on a fringe. This is not the Dublin of Guinness and glass palaces housing tech companies which it wishes to present to the world.

To immediately sound the far-right klaxon betrays an institutional glibness which explains many of the inherent, simmering tensions currently characterising Irish political debate.

This, after all, was not the first act of random street violence in Ireland in recent times. There was a stabbing at Dublin Airport in September, while a woman was stabbed in the centre of Dublin on Chatham Street on Thursday night last week.

Concerns about the impact of immigration and Ireland’s readiness to cope with it is starting to ratchet up. These tensions are undoubtedly intertwined with the Republic’s unprecedented housing crisis. There has been a record amount of homeless in recent years. People’s anecdotes about rental prices in Dublin would make even a hardened Londoner blanche. No wonder Ireland has seen protests when migrants are moved into accommodation ahead of Irish people who have been waiting for a home for some time.

What is Ireland’s escape route from this quagmire? A great many – based on current polling – want to chuck their lot in with Sinn Fein, such is the contempt for the Fine Gael and Fianna Fail cabal which has taken turns at running the country. That such a party is being viewed as a solution says a great deal about the mire the Republic finds itself in.

A poll by the Business Post found that 75 per cent of people believed that Ireland is taking in too many refugees. Interestingly, 83 per cent of Sinn Fein supporters endorsed this view, with between 70 to 74 per cent of the supporters of the two other main parties also agreeing with that statement.

To therefore immediately blame unrest on the far right, as the Irish government and police have done, shows yet another European establishment out of kilter with its people on immigration.

Undoubtedly there was clear desire for opportunistic violence amongst some of the crowd who rioted last night. However, the crux of the matter will be the stabbing which led to those riots, and the circumstances which allowed such an attack to take place.

In the court of public opinion, particularly in Brussels, the Republic and its leaders have for many years wanted to be patted on the head for ‘doing the right thing’. They have wanted to be the friendly country – and certainly friendlier than the English across the water. However, as the old political elites in Sweden and the Netherlands are now finding, there is a price to pay for such a lax approach to the questions of immigration and integration. Will the Irish political establishment cotton on before it is too late for them? Based on their response in the past 24 hours, I wouldn’t bet on it."

The govt and council see the north inner city as a dumping ground.

The police were crawling around the main tourist areas where the worse crime you see would be shoplifting. Any of the more dodgy areas and again they were no where to be seen. They are totally useless and not fit for purpose

the guys who looted and set infrastructure on fire in dublin are a bunch of toe rag criminals. i suspect many have a history of criminality. i doubt they could string a coherent few words together.
some of the right wing media are now making the same excuse for violence that the left in america make when a mob of looters descend on an urban area after a cop kills someone. its crazy analysis.

im irish and i live here, though not in dublin. we have a big crime problem. very common to see guys with 100 plus convictions in court every other day and back in again a month later. the politicians could not give a damn. and neither could our liberal dominated media. stealing in shops, threatening shopkeepers, 4am home invasions and random assaults are very common. no politician, social influencer or middle class columnist gives a damn. and if they do, they blame what the liberal media in the Uk and USA blame.........poverty. i wonder do they ever consider what a person with 100 convictions could do for a living. do u seriously think he could do any job? u reckon if u paid him 200k to stack shelves in a store that he could do it? u think he could get from 9 to 5 without drinking, taking drugs or being verbally or physically abusive to other staff or customers? i dont think so. there r a bunch of dysfunctional people out there who when they misbehave need to be locked up. but western countries are refusing to do this now. left leaning acedemics and media figures plus politicians refuse to call for increased prison spaces to deal with these people. irish prisons are totally overcrowded. we have no where to put people who commit crime.

but all of a sudden after this riot the left wing politicians (i dont think we have any right wing politicians) are concerned about crime. they are all lining up to talk about hate after this riot. i never heard them express concern about crime before. but when it can be called right wing crime they are all upset about it.

if u are ever robbed on the street, or your home is invaded at 4am, then when u contact authorities say it was the right wingers. contact your local TD (MP) and say they were right wing. contact the media and say the same. they will listen to u then.

The prisons in GB are also packed to the rafters with judges discouraged to sent ppl to jail as a result.
It’s a fact, though I’m unsure whether to draw the distinction that it’s all down to liberalism innit wanting to build more jails.

From my cursory look at it incarceration is hellishly expensive and politics is myopic, you could draw the parallel with the water companies; it seems sifting 5hit out of water is also an inconvenience that cost too much money.

On Monday, the UK’s Northern Ireland secretary Chris Heaton-Harris criticised remarks made by the Taoiseach around Irish unity and the collapse of Stormont.

Mr Varadkar had expressed his belief that he would see unification within his lifetime. He also raised the possibility of a "plan B" if devolved government in Northern Ireland was not restored by the autumn.

Riad Bouchaker told gardaí he was “mad” over not getting a social welfare allowance and had a knife in his trousers when “wandering” in Dublin city centre on November 23rd, 2023, a Central Criminal Court jury was told.

Bouchaker said he earlier that day had torn up a letter from the Department of Social Protection. It required him to provide more documents by November 22nd for his application for supplementary welfare allowance.

In interviews with gardaí on December 20th, 2023, he said he then left a suitcase containing his clothes and Irish and Algerian passports in a mosque on Talbot Street.

When shown CCTV of him on Talbot Street, he said he “wanted to walk” and had “no pence to spend on something to eat”. He was “not conscious what I was doing, just walked back and forth, was wandering”.

Bouchaker said: “I did something that I feel I was dead when I did it.” He said: “I never meant to kill anybody. I am an Irish national, the social welfare refusal decision made me go into blackout and my brother told me, ‘what’s wrong with you, you are not this kind of person’.”

He also said: “I don’t know people, I only know my brother. For 19 years, I don’t speak to people, I never have. I’ve never had any contact with people, I’m always alone.”

Yesterday, the trial moved on from Garda interviews and clinicians gave medical evidence.

One such witness was Dr Aoife Mahony, a consultant paediatrician, who spoke about the impact of the alleged attack on one young girl.

Dr Mahony told the court that the child had suffered a penetrating chest injury, which meant her brain did not get the oxygen that it needed. As a result, she has an acquired brain injury.

The paediatrician added that her role was to assess the extent of the girl’s brain damage and said she suffers from severe dystonia. This is a neurological disorder which means the communication between the brain and the muscles do not work correctly.
“She said her head control has improved over time and she can sit briefly but she said she still needs a wheelchair.

“She also needs a hoist for transfers; she can't stand on her own, she can't bear weight or walk and is fully dependent on carers for all aspects of daily living.”

Dr Mahony continued that the young girl cannot communicate verbally but that she is able to blink for yes or no questions.

“She now attends a specialised school for children with additional needs and in terms of the long-term outlook Dr Mahony said that she will require all her current supports for the rest of her life.

A 52-year-old man has been found guilty of the attempted murder of three children and assaulting four other people in Dublin's Parnell Square in November 2023.

Riad Bouchaker, of no fixed address, was also found guilty of assault causing serious harm to crèche worker Leanne Flynn, and of assaulting two other children and a teenager.

The Central Criminal Court heard that a five-year-old girl has been left with a life-long brain injury after Bouchaker stabbed her in the heart.

In total, he was found guilty of all eight charges, which he had had denied.

The jury was sent out on Tuesday, they deliberated for around six hours and reached a verdict on Wednesday afternoon.

They found Bouchaker guilty on all counts.

Bouchaker was liaising with his interpreter upon hearing the verdict.

Judge Tony Hunt thanked the jury for their "hard work" and he said "having to listen by some of what you heard is very difficult".

He also thanked the jury for their verdicts and said they are "entirely in line with the evidence that you heard".

Sentencing has been set for 12 October and Bouchaker will be remanded in custody until then.

The attack on 23 November 2023 sparked riots across much of Dublin.

The most riot police in Irish state history were deployed to deal with the unrest.

Within hours of the attack, rioters destroyed 11 police vehicles, while 13 shops were badly damaged and more were looted during clashes with riot police.

Three buses and a tram were also destroyed and several police officers were injured during three hours of sustained violence.

Ireland's police chief at the time, Drew Harris blamed the rioting on a "lunatic, hooligan faction driven by a far-right ideology".

Never knew there was a mosque on Talbot Street, I used to drink their regularly I know there is a monument to Dublin, Monaghan bombings by loyalist paramilitary who acted in collusion with British army.
5 years since I’ve been in Dublin Talbot street, were would mosque be ? I can’t think, it’s pubs, bookies, clothes shops, takeaways surely that’s not a location for a religious establishment of any kind.
You certainly wouldn’t have a Christian church there.

I don’t know how planning permission affects religious buildings but I don’t see how the fits in to local development plan more importantly don’t realise how a religious organisation would want to be there, there is no parking for parishioners for a start.

Talbot Street rents and buildings to buy would be super expensive you are next door to O’Connell street, Dublin Connolly train station and Luas.

Criminals and thugs, with no political mandate from national community in fact they are major hindrance to border poll. If they are looking in come and shoot me too, but you will need to shoot everybody horrible cants. Pretend they are anti drugs my hole, maybe they don’t touch them personally but they provide protection so they are facilitating drug dealing. Very bad people.

You need to be a real thick cant to not know how this operates, drug dealer pays them, he’s ok, drug dealer doesn’t pay he’s getting extreme violence.

There was ten young men starved themselves to death in 1981, badly advised but that’s another story, but they actually contributed to end of conflict.
These gangsters want to keep it going and that’s all they are gangsters, I despise these people, the conflict should never have escalated but deal was done, and everything should be ok,
