Police have launched an investigation following a disturbance during a football match in #Gateshead.

At around 8.20pm today (Friday) it was reported two cars drove on the pitch during half-time of the Dunston UTC v Gateshead match at Dunston Football Club on Wellington Rd.

1/5

Following this, both cars – a Subaru and a Hearse – have drove around in circles and a group of males wearing balaclavas have exited onto the pitch.

They have proceeded to throw leaflets on the pitch before driving away from the area in the Subaru before police arrival.

The Hearse was abandoned on the pitch.

Officers attended within minutes where nobody was reported to have been injured or threatened.

An investigation was launched and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the report and locate those involved.

Disorder will not be tolerated in the community, and anyone found to be involved will be dealt with robustly.

While enquiries are at an early stage, it is believed those involved are known to each other and there was no wider risk to the public.

We are aware of images and videos circulating on social media. The public are urged not to speculate, and encouraged to share footage with police.

Officers remain in the area to offer reassurance.

The guy is a magnet for trouble.

He's the guy that paraded with a coffin
to protest nufc was being killed under Ashley.

He's written loads of gangster books, and even
has a small acting role in them footsoldier films.

I know nowt of the accusations prior to last night
But seemingly he no longer had any connection
to Dunston Football Club.

Surely somebody will make a film about this
when it all settles down.

Having seen footage of the Pig’s head incident at the Birtley Coach and Horse’s pub, we can disclose that it appears to be of a very similar nature to the Dunston football pitch incident off a few weeks ago.

A video shows men in balaclavas run up to the pub having placed the pig’s head on the door and another on a nearby lamppost. In addition to the heads, a poster was also placed on the pub door of a defamatory nature.

Man charged in connection with incident
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- • September 22, 2026 2:22 PM BST
Five men are due to appear in court in connection with the alleged organisation of violent disorder – including the suspected conspiracy behind an incident which saw a hearse driven onto a football pitch in 2023.

Supporters were left stunned when the black funeral car appeared during half-time as Dunston UTS FC took on Gateshead FC at Dunston's UTS Stadium in July 2023.

Now five men have been charged in connection with this and a number of connected incidents, which happened across the summer of 2023. They include criminal damage at properties in Dunston and Byker, Newcastle, and the theft of a vehicle from the Durham area.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- • October 23, 2026 8:37 PM BST
Five men have denied a raft of charges after a funeral hearse was driven onto a football pitch three years ago.

The incident, which took place during half time at the Dunston UTS v Gateshead match at Dunston Football Club, is believed to have been linked to a number of others.

These included reports of criminal damage across addresses in the Dunston and Byker areas, as well as a report of a stolen vehicle from the Durham area.

Appearing at Newcastle Crown Court, the five - aged between 31 and 53 - have pleaded not guilty to all charges against them and will return to the court on 1 November.
