The court was told Iqbal had been convicted of driving without insurance in 2019 and in December 2021 posted a video to Facebook after filming himself speeding in a Lamborghini Huracan in Dubai.

Two months before the M66 crash, he was given a warning by police after being stopped while racing an Audi on public roads.

Solicitor Rose Gibson-Harper, who represents the victim's family, said the sentence was "insulting and an injustice" due to "an act of sheer stupidity".

"Last year, judges were given the power to hand down greater sentences to those convicted of death by dangerous driving," she said.

"Previously, the maximum tariff was 14 years but it was increased to life imprisonment.

what would you do? its not intentional but its manslaughter. instead of reckless driving charge the buggers with that

until you realise its hard to prove. im a cyclist and have been run over several times, mostly my own fault but once it wasnt and the bugger got off

You see the fat heads every day in their BMWs and Audis driving in exactly the same manner.
Accelerate, tailgate, brake, in and out of lanes.
That`s why you see so many flower attached to trees and railings.

These hot headed young males. They think they're invincible. They think they're in control. They greatly overestimate their skills. Until tragedy strikes.

Weaving in and out of traffic at 123mph, it should be assumed that crashing and causing fatalities is intentional.  It's no different to firing a gun into a crowd and then being surprised when someone gets hit and dies.  Of course, our limp judicial system is more concerned about the rights of criminals.

He should have got life

1. Life sentence for serious offences

A sentence of imprisonment for life must be imposed, where the following criteria are met (sections 274 or 285 of the Sentencing Code):

the offender is convicted of an offence listed in Schedule 19 of the Sentencing Code; and
the offence was committed on or after 4 April 2005; and
in the court’s opinion the offender poses a significant risk to the public of serious harm by the commission of further specified offences; and
the court considers that the seriousness of the offence justifies the imposition of imprisonment for life.
