The Dutch immigration service IND acted justly in imposing an entry ban against British conspiracy theorist David Icke, the court ruled on Monday. The ban on entering the Netherlands and the entire Schengen Area will not be lifted for the time being. Icke had filed a lawsuit to get the ban overturned.

Icke was to speak on November 6 at a demonstration organized in Amsterdam by the anti-government coalition Samen voor Nederland. The day before, he was denied access to the entire Schengen Area for two years. The British man was already on his way to the event, but turned around.

The state secretary for justice and security formalized the decision by relying on reports from the police and the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV), which stated that Icke's arrival would pose a potential threat to public order, according to the court. Icke has also appealed the decision with the state secretary’s office, which is still under consideration.

Icke argued that he wants to spend Christmas with his in-laws in the Netherlands, and therefore has asked the court to suspend the entry ban for that period. But the interest of public order outweighs his own interest, according to the decision.

I see the problem from the Dutch government's point of view:  He was going to speak at a rally of the anti-government parties that have not yet been banned.  Allowing him to do this could bring about civil unrest.  You have to balance the right of freedom of speech against the real threat of a government being brought down by populist ideas.  Taken to it's ultimate conclusion, you could have the situation in which the people vote out the government, or, even worse, vote to leave the EU.  There are times when the "people" have to be protected from themselves.  So banning David Icke from the Nederlands would be for the greater good (or at least the government's good).

I don't necessarily agree with the Dutch Government, but I am trying to understand their mentality.

i remember he claimed 5G masts spread covid & when asked why brazil, india
and other countries without 5G had, at the time, the highest instances of
infection he was a bit stumped for an answer. there were very few countries
at the time that did have operational 5G networks. that whole mad theory just
seemed to drift away like the hot air it was.
i think he also blamed the jews for planning the whole thing so that and
various other antisemitic remarks are unlikely to play well with the dutch
government.
