The reality is Russia and Putin are getting away with all this on fear of nuclear Armageddon alone

Reality is both sides have them and we’ve always been told it’s what kept each side in check... but this lot are invading and doing as they please and the west is making tickly tok vids and lighting candles and telling each other how Russia are losing... you couldn’t make it fooking up

I suspect the freezing of assets of people close to Putin has more effect than general sanctions on the Russian people which also hurt us. It is after all the Russian people who can resolve this situation relatively painlessly. The oligarchs are best placed to overturn him and will be enraged by what is happening to their formerly fairytale existences.

When the American president says that we can't run the risk of a no fly zone in case we end up shooting down a Russian plane and starting what he calls "World War III", you know that Putin will be laughing and will be given the green light to act without any thought of the consequences.  Even if that is what the president (and other western leaders) thinks, he is a mug to say it out loud.
When Putin said that he was putting his "deterrent forces" on "high alert" (without actually saying the word "nuclear") we should have said the truth, "Our NUCLEAR deterrent is ALWAYS on high alert.  It wouldn't be a deterrent if it wasn't."  That would put the willies up him!  After the cold war ended it was revealed that the Ruskies were more afraid of nuclear war than we were.
I'm not saying "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself", but as we have our own nuclear deterrent, fear of nuclear conflict shouldn't be paralyzing us when it is time to act.

Putin could easily be dealt with but this is a video game playing out

Putin sees us as weak after all the cut backs and **** ups.  We have decimated our forces in the uk
Back in my day we had a large airforce and  we had 250 RN ships and  had over 3 tank/mechanised divisions in germany  and the ussr was too afraid to move against NATO.  Now look at it all.   Germany led by the russian speaking ex communist Merkel cuddled up to russia and even now they are arguing AGAINST  cutting off russian gas and oil -
In the Military we had a technical term you would not understand.

I really can't understand if Biden is really just unbelievably bad or trying to encourage the attack.

He was for a long time saying they weren't going to do anything if Russia invaded the Ukraine - which pretty much gave Putin the green light. Also with the no fly zones - this is the Ukraine and it was democratically elected surely declaring it a no fly zone is not that difficult if they are wanting it.

As they haven't done the no fly zones the country is just getting leveled as Russia isn't advancing as easily as expected. I also don't understand how this can be seen as okay and then if they were to use chemical weapons then other countries might get involved. There will be so many civilian casualties if they are bombing cities like they appear to be. Does it not matter if they are maimed or blown up with a bomb?

I think the whole thing has been a political disaster that could have been avoided and I don't think there will be any winners

Lol at the drama of the OP, if it's not putin it's the tories sending him into a rage. Try and relax a little and enjoy life.

Poohtin clearly did not expect America and the West to have any backbone. Severe sanctions imho is the right way to go after Poohtin. We do not need to be engaged in military conflict 2,000 miles away. It is their land, let them fight for it. The Orange Peril did nothing to discourage Poohtin, quite the opposite in fact.
