The first Roxy Music album is nowhere near as good as 'history' likes to claim it is.
Ferry and Roxy's best music came out in 1973 with 'For Your Pleasure' and 'Stranded' the latter of which might be the apex work.

Pure rock cannot be theatrical - that’s the curse of a lot of English rock music ( bat out of hell was more like that American is richer with more depth

Personal one for me as their other one (Mondays) was the first single I ever bought. Bought this one too and I still have it on rotation in my car. It's just an absolute belting rock song with a great hook. That's what it's all about.

Mention of the Boomtown Rats earlier..... they may not necessarily have composed/performed The Greatest Rock Song ever, but I have to say their 1978 album "A Tonic For The Troops' is still a joy to listen to. Ten irresistible tunes with good lyrics and noticably smart backing vocals, "Blind Date" to "Rat Trap".
