Is it possible that the amount you are trying to lay the Republicans for is taking you deeper into the red than you were with democrats? Have you tried just laying the minimum to see what happens?

It doesn't matter how much I stake the balance goes down even if it's 1 pound. I've been waiting for ages for a reply from the traders. My exposure when added up manually is less than the exposure that Betfair say. This all happened yesterday when I reduced my liability on the red and my balance went down! I need to know if anyone else has had a similar problem on Arizona.

By:
Is there any other state with similar red/green situation you could try to see what effect it has?
By:
Have you got a negative balance
on your overall account from trading somewhere else on the site? Have you got an unmatched bet on the market you have forgotten about? |
By:
I've tried all my other markets where there is a green and red and they work fine. There are no unmatched bets. It's only Arizona where there is a problem
By:
I'm bothered that if Arizona is settled before my account is put right (unlikely) I will be penalised due to the error in my calculated and Betfair's calculated exposure
By:
It's a bugga then.
Are they looking into it? I had a similar(ish) problem a few years ago on golf but that was caused by them removing a non runner. That can't be case here. But they were able to look at my account on their screen and see the difficulty. These things are tough to explain without that. Good luck sir. |

They say they are, my balance is £757.40 below waht it should be after reducing my liability on the red in the Arizona market by £37..a massive ****-up by Betfair
By:
Just for one last attempt, have you tried cancelling any unmatched bets anywhere on the exchange to see if it makes any difference?
By:
It's also possible some bet
has been resettled elsewhere. Look in your statement to check That has not happened. There's a running total after each bet is settled, and you can sometimes tell from that whats gone wrong. |
By:
the market works ok for me the other way - i'm green on dem and if I lay £1 on them my exposure goes down by £1 and available balance up by £1.
By:
So as others say it must be something specific to your bets
By:
Thanks for your help, I'll update this when I get a reply
By:
Thanks dave for trying that
By:
Would I be right in saying that you had a bet of roughly £37, laying the republicans at roughly 20s?
By:
Hmm, it’s odd for me too. Just put a £10 bet on Rep (I’ve got £282 green Dems) and it took £10 off my available balance, which reappeared when I cancelled the bet.
By:
Didn’t happen if I put a lay of the Dems in for equivalent amounts.
By:
wtf those micro-bets I put on the other day have been put back on my exposure!
By:
This one market on my site is corrupted, I have 11 open bets with 1 liability on each I've added them up and the total is £742.40 less than the exposure that betfair say it is. All my other markets work fine, but Arizona is compromised. I cannot use the green to reduce the red without ny balance going down. I have escalated this to a formal complaint, I have sent spreadsheets, photographs of what happens and guess what? I have not had a reply in 5 days. if others have the same problem there is something fundamentally wrong with this market and the lack of accountability by Betfair is a disgrace
By:
Betting the red on Republicans was more profitable than laying the green on Democrats, If i had gone the other way I would not have noticed this anomaly
By:
Fwiw, I had exactly the same problem on the IPL outright market. During the later stages I was decent green on every outcome with no unmatched bets. Put in a small "back" order and hey presto, my available balance would reduce accordingly.
I didn't bother pursuing it (what's the point?) but took this as more evidence of the general neglect of their exchange product. |
By:
I have to pursue £742, I won't let this drop
By:
You've got your records and made your complaint. Arizona should be certified 30/11 at the latest, so if it is settled then (and betfair will be facing a torrent of complaints if they haven't settled almost everything by then) you should be able to put in a formal claim if the market isn't settled correctly.
By:
Thanks all, I'll see what happens by Monday. They are supposed to reply within 24hrs
By:
Good luck.

I had a reply this morning and they agreed that the market was compromised and my balance was incorrect. The £742.40 has now been added back as my exposure is now correct. The market is now working normally, thanks to you all for your help, I really appreciate it!

Good news.

By:
Funnily enough, I have roughly an extra £60 on my balance today and haven't a clue where it came from. Checked everything and I guess it might be to do with Arizona?
By:
Good news all round then

I think this episode has made me be sure to reconcile my account after every bet, we should do that as a matter of course really
