At least 95,000 people have entered the UK from overseas since the coronavirus lockdown was imposed, one of the government’s chief scientific advisers has revealed, while repeatedly failing to provide an estimate of how many of these people had Covid-19.
Appearing before MPs on the science and technology committee, Prof John Aston, the chief scientific adviser at the Home Office, admitted that had tougher restrictions been introduced at the border, the peak of the virus may have been delayed – but he did not say by how long, or if this would have saved lives.
At least 15,000 people a day are flying into the UK without checks on their medical condition, the health secretary admitted yesterday.
Matt Hancock said that the equivalent of 105,000 passengers a week were entering the UK from countries including those with serious coronavirus outbreaks such as the US, China, Spain and Italy. Criticism has mounted over the failure to impose health checks or a compulsory period in quarantine for people arriving at UK airports. The US has banned entry for people from Britain and elsewhere in Europe.
Now its been a long time since this forum started to highlight the death planes disaster, yet the deaths went on increasing, not statistics, but real people who would be alive if we had an honest efficient decent government. Instead we got Cummingsgate, death planes and thousands of unnecessary deaths.

Boris and government appear to be making it up as they go along. There doesn't seem to be any real plan, announcements are made at random regarding social distancing, shops, sunbathing, travel, masks etc and it feels they are solely trying to cater to their voting public rather than what's best for the country. Quarantining of folks coming in.. who knows where we are with that currently. Fines for folks that don't follow these "guidelines"...how can they be enforced? It has become a lottery of guessing what might be announced next.

People arriving at UK Ports now have an legal obligation to self isolate for 14 days. Who is going to stop them or even know if they are breaking quarantine? |

Did I read somewhere that you were raised in S.Africa? I have known a number of white S Africans and they mostly had an air of superiority. I never agreed with their assumption, just thought they were brought up to believe it. meet up with friends every Saturday. All pretty safe and harmless. We moved away from the pub as we did not want to take the pith out of the Police. The first time we met we went to our pub and there were 20 people outside! The cops weren't too bothered but said they had been told they had to tell us to move which they did but when they came back after half an hour everyone was still there. They have a tough job so we moved away from the pub eventually. The laws are stupid Luke. They would fine or arrest people for sunbathing in the early days now they have found that getting sun is one of the best ways of fighting this disease. They announce a quarantine from today but cannot police it. madness from a bunch of lunatics who have taken over the asylum. |

The number of coronavirus deaths in the UK would have been halved if lockdown had been introduced a week earlier, a former government adviser has said.
Prof Neil Ferguson, whose advice was crucial to the decision to go into lockdown, said the outbreak had been doubling in size every three or four days before measures had been taken. So they were warned well before lockdown they needed to act. They had the example of Italy. They had exactly the same information as Germany. But the Tories quite deliberately chose to do nothing at all. No ban on major events like European football matches or tha Cheltenham festival. Just a deliberate plan to let the virus go through the population. Now half the deaths that have happened is over 20,000 people. Not statistics. Not some foreign people a long way away. But out own people, our mums and dads now dead because of deliberate Tory inaction. They are essentially guilty of indirect murder of thousands. And they are still telling lie after lie and defend Cummingsgate and the death planes. Shocking, vicious callous Tories. Shame on them. |
