The ruling says the length of prorogation is a matter for law which protects us all for the future to prevent any political party from taking advantage of the situation by shutting down parliament for an unnecessarily long duration. It also confirms the difference between prorogation and recess for party conferences and concludes that in the opinion of the law this prorogation was unnecessarily long so therefore has been quashed to the effect that the written submission was equal to a blank piece of paper. We should all welcome this ruling as a barometer for what is and is not an acceptable prolongation period with guidance of 4-6 days recognised as an acceptable duration by the court.
Forget the politics this is a good day for the UK.
