Let's hope he is ready to go back to his constituents in the shape of a by-election.

I would be up for all the PLP that agitate against the leader to resign the whip and stand as independents in by-elections. At least that would show some honesty and integrity - something they have been lacking in.

Correct. You either stand in the house as representing your constituents or you give them the opportunity to change that.

August 3rd 2018:

Now Field has been subject to a vote of no confidence by his constituency Labour members, it’s about time his obsessions – with immigration, with working-class respectability, and with meting out punishment to those on the margins of society – were held up to greater scrutiny. He has made a name for himself as an “independent thinker”, when the reality is his views and his party membership are essentially incompatible.

I’m hesitant about mandatory reselection of MPs, given that every time the party’s pendulum swings from left to right and back, everyone who doesn’t slot in neatly will be more likely to be slung out. But Field’s views are so clearly inimical to Labour principles of justice, humanity and acceptance that in his case it’s reasonable to ask whether he should still be representing Labour voters in parliament.

Good. I hope this finally makes Labour get its finger out. Of course there should be a by election I expect he will walk it.
Report politicspunter August 30, 2018 5:14 PM BST
Whoever stands for Labour will walk it. Field had 75% share of the vote and a majority of over 25K in his Birkenhead constituency.
Report Arleystation August 30, 2018 6:37 PM BST
Field would stand as Independent Labour, so the official Labour candidate would not be elected to Parliament.

The little toe rag you have in charge is not fit to lick Frank Fields boots.
Report Dr Crippen August 30, 2018 8:30 PM BST
Frank Field was one of the Labour MPs who backed Corbyn to run for leader of the Labour party.

field used to be considered as one of the left in may active days

momentum are nothing to do with socialism

they are more like national socialists  - they seem to prefer some of the tactics

they also learnt from Stalin about central control

You're obviously fantasising about May moisom.
You've hit rock bottom. Sad

How can any right thinking person vote for THIS Labour party ?, May is a coward for the conservatives as well. The only way forward for either of these two parties is to sack there leader, they would walk the next election if they did imo

The Tory party don't want to sack May(because it would force a GE and they believe they will lose) and the Labour party (PLP) can't sack him (though they would in a heart beat).
And I will vote Labour.

When people like Field and Kate Hoey are not welcome in the Labour party they are unfit to be anywhere near government.
