Lauren Laverne earns £300-£350k a year from BBC.

Would Corbyn & the many others suggesting the BBC female pay is unfair care to suggest how much Lauren Laverne should be paid?
The licence fee should be cut & if needed the BBC should raise money from advertising.

Which female talent on BBC should earn more money? Should we increase the licence fee so we can pay these rich women more money?

Tbf the BBC said it would be inflationary. I haven't got much sympathy for these relatively highly paid women ( everything is relative compared to Ant & Dec's £30m   Cry) but some of them do seem to be being paid less than their male counterparts.

Seems odd that an organisation full of left wingers don't understand basic unionism.

In a company where no one knows what the next one is getting, the situation always favours the boss or the few, to the detriment of the rest.

How the BBC have been allowed to get away with that for so long is amazing.

Still I suppose being at the bottom of the pay scale on the BBC gravy train is better than not being on it at all.

I have read a list of the women who have signed the letter. I know who most of them are and none of them strikes me as the typical Corbynista.
I agree with your basic point though Crippen. Unfortunately most workers today would rathe suck up to the boss than show solidarity with their colleagues.

how about they cut all the 'talent' pay to 50 grand max pa regardless of sex, walk if they want to walk as there will always be someone wanting to do the job.

it's a great diversionary tactic for tptb to have so much focus on this rubbish though isnt it? with all that is happening are the wages at the bbc really such a big thing?

Equal pay, is nothing but a policy, whereas inferior people complain about not being paid equally compared to superior people. Pay in the private sector is governed by the labour market supply and demand. Higher skilled workers demand more than low skilled workers because the supply of low skilled workers is higher than the supply of high skilled workers. As for the BBC presenters, they are not actors, acting out another character. They are being themselves. Do all actors get the same pay? Of course not. How many football fans could present Match of the Day? Thousands. Supply exceeds demand, therefore the pay should be no more than £50,000 per annum. However, the BBC is simply a gravy train to hand over stolen money from the poor and give it to selected privilege bunch of "mates". Did anyone ever see a job advert for these grossly overpaid presenting jobs? NO. Equal pay based on gender is nonsense. I can't wait for a female actress getting £10m to make a film and a male actor getting £1m, thus complaining about equality, so both get £5.5m each. I'm sure the female will howl with rage.

rats fighting in a sack. A bunch of well heeled toffs who attended the right schools complaining of some better well heeled toffs who attended even better schools.....and all at the tax payers expense. Perhaps Jane Garvey, when she gets her huge salary increase,  can add to the number of empty champagne bottles strewn around broadcasting house as she admitted in 2007 when celebrating a Labour Victory some ten years earlier.

If 2 full time producers or editors doing very similar jobs get paid extra for being male or female than that is illegal but how do you compare Chris Evans with Sue Barker or any other TV "personality". They don't do the same job, may work different hours etc. etc. The BBC pay can't be so bad or more of them would leave for other channels as Susanna Reid did. I wouldn't pay Chris Evans £1 an hour if I was in charge but that is a personal choice.

Amazing isn't it? A row about overpaid BBC 'talent' has been turned into fury over 'unequal' pay.

Inevitable result? An even higher overall wage bill for the licence payer.

What a result Cry
