Will the unseen happen in France too? "Polls say Le Pen cannot win".
Yes, they seem to say that a lot on many things these days.

Fillon is a Thatcher type character. Awful. Le Pen sounds like the answer for the working classes. Macron seems like a chancer.

le pen

the french take an odd stance to their politics, party and individual choice
seems at times to be quite random

they reckon they vote with their hearts until the run off, at which point
they use their head. ....

hmmmm

Indeed the polls if you can believe them have Le Pen winning round one and filion and Macron fighting to face her in the final round , however in the final round the polls have Fillion and Macron easily beating Le Pen for the Presidency
By:

The thing here is if its Le Pen v Filion will the Socialist left wing vote for an arch - thatcherite  like fillion or will they accept the Front Nationale  even though they dislike the far right , in the past the left wing vote has stopped the front nationale, this time they know she has some policies to help the poor, likewise would the French conservatives vote for Macron an ex member of the hollande government

yes very short lepen but insanly short AFD in Germany. 9 % and the are traded around 7/1 nuts in my opinion. overreaction of trump. now they think every right wing party will win.
if lepen wins it will probably go down to 5/2 and will be the lay of the year.

The best we can hope for is Fillon knocking Macron out in the first round. I cannot see workers voting for a Thatcher type over  Le Pen.

It's a tricky market to predict (how many favourites have there been?) Fillon is favourite again, though starting to drift a bit. The thing is that Le Pen will almost certainly win the 1st Rd, which is usually a big "up yours" to the establishment. Then she will probably lose out to the other candidate in the 2nd Rd, when the electorate think seriously about who they really want as President. The big question is who will that be, Fillon or Macron? Whoever it is will be strong favourite when it gets down to the last 2. It's like when you have 3 teams left in the Cup, One weaker team that is already through to the Final and 2 well-matched strong teams to play each other in the 2nd semi-final. If you can predict who will win the 2nd semi-final and back them to win the Cup, you will have a very good trade for the Final, but if you wait to see who goes through, you won't get a price, and will lose out. It might be a bit more unpredictable this time, as recent events have made a win for the far-right much more likely than it has been in previous years. But basically it seems to be a question of picking the winner between Macron and Fillon, betting at odds against, then laying off or letting it run in the 2nd round. If you pick the wrong one between Macron and Fillon, then you lose of course. Personally, I'm not to sure, which way it will go, but I am puzzled as to why the suspicions about Fillon's conduct have cleared up enough for him to become favourite again. And for me, Macron should still be the favourite. Mind you, I was wrong about Brexit and the Us election, so what do I know? Grin

this must have played a part in his price swing

Yes, it seems a bit strange. Are they going to try to prosecute him or not? Something has changed since yesterday. I'm still not sure that Fillon is clear of the whiff of scandal yet.

Completely agree with this being great value at the moment. The problem with the German election is it comes after the Dutch and French, those elections could systematically change the relationship that Germany has with the EU. I think the AfD price is based on a grand coalition to save the EU vs an anti-establisment vote.

The thing is you can so easily trade out if things go that way that the current price is a no-brainer.

Fillon campaign manager has quit tonight and although filion says he wont quit he is all but finished now , many of the centre right are now helping Allain Juppe.

Marine Le Pen   9-4
Alain  Juppe    11-4
François Fillon 10-1

Anxious sums it up rather well.

Le Pen wins the first round because she has the most support.
Her problem is you get this unholy alliance against her in the second round where left and right combine forces.

Fillon is so far to the right you would think the Left would baulk at supporting him.
Also calling Le Pen far right is wrong, she has some left leaning policies.

Macron is pro the EU which is a minus.
His statement about Algeria and war crimes will surely antagonise the right.

From Le Pens point of view she would rather face someone from the right.
Surely the Left in France have some regard for their country.

By Monday all these people who have bet on Juppe will be a lot poorer and wondering why they bet on a NON runner !! Fillon will bring the crowds out tomorrow in the rain and then the media will be forced to shut up .!! Fillon and Marine are being targeted by the Courts and Media .

Macron worked for Rothchild.

2014-2016 was the Minister of the economy as GDP fell from $2.84tr to $2.48tr.

'On Islam, Macron has been cordial, insisting "no religion is a problem in France today" and even drawing ire from the right by condemning French "crimes and acts of barbarism" during its colonial rule in Algeria.'
