I can't find my original thread on this so I thought I'd start another.

Well the doctors are on strike again.

Don't doctors realise there is more to life than money?

I see the Patients Association has backed the doctors strike.
So where was this tin pot talking shop when patients where dying in Staffordshire hospital?

They support doctors because they need doctors help to function, nothing else.

Young people are meant to work long hours and be mentally and physically drained. In the medical profession this is as important, more important, these doctors have to learn an learn quickly in a very few years.
The only way, and imo the best way if for them to be under no illusions that they will be required to work very long hours for the most part of their early years.
This is both good for them and the profession. Ah but what about safety.. there will be no effect on safety because of tiredness, that almost never happens.
What causes safety to be compromised is having the wrong processes in place and not having the methods in place whereby young medics are having to make decisions without someone looking over and saying stop, you are about to make a mistake.
They will make mistakes because of inexperience, not tiredness...it is good for young people in their 20s to work very long hours and by doing so learn their craft.

tony,
Young people don't get tired that easily.

Your trouble with you is, you've never pushed yourself enough to know what hard work is.

Even the thought of a bit of effort frightens you to death.

Double shifts can be nothing depending on the type of work you do.
Report Dr Crippen April 6, 2016 5:26 PM BST
And when doctors do earn decent money when they are older, it's people like tony who want to take it away from them in sky high tax rates.

Pay the fkn doctors and be done!
Dave can lend ye a sub; he's got more than he deserves.

Btw, tony was a pongo , ie a hero for GB.

Cossers wouldn't do half of what they had to do. A cosser never soils his hands. Kid gloves for them.

What you on about Strelnikov?

In your equal society doctors would receive the same pay as toilet cleaners.

You're all over the place.
Report sean rua April 12, 2016 10:46 AM BST
For the love of fk, doc, will ye ever learn?Laugh

I've told ye umpteen times, there WILL BE NO PAY UNDER TRUE SOCIALISM.
There will be no money, no wages, nothing like that.

How many more times will ye mistake me for one of these silly reformists , like say Jeremy or Nige?

We have a system based on PRINCIPLES.

Google the word, before the fkn teacher comes back from his smoke.

Equality is bollx - just a bourgeois notion from the french revolution.

'Tis impossible and pointless; one size does NOT fit all.

We believe in

FROM  each according to his ABILITY

TO each according to his NEED.

Now state your principles, presuming ye've managed to look up the meaning of the word.

We have poverty and richness, knowledge and stupidity, success and failure in all their variations and fine distinctions...these are our principles.
Report sean rua April 12, 2016 10:57 AM BST
Those are qualities and characteristics, lfc666.

They are not principles.

Ye seem to be heavily into the old yin and yang. I agree that a balance of contrasts is a vital part of life's rich tapestry.

That is why your old-fashioned back-looking jingoism and xenophobia is futile.

Life goes on; migration goes on.

Why ye cnts block the path of bears and deer with your fkn stupid fences is beyond me.
If that happened in your beloved Lake District, ye'd be on here crying like a baby.

I'm not one of these who thinks the soviets were anything to do with true socialism.

I told ye putin is a capitalist; ye didn't understand.

Now it appears he is hundreds of times more wealthy than DODGER!

Spoke to an old lady today.

She desperately needs an op. In constant pain and has lost 3 stone since Christmas.

She heard last week that her op (planned for this week) has been postponed indefinitely due to the backlog.

Typical of her generation she told me that others are far worse off than her..Sad

And now the junior doctors are at it again holding an all out strike for more money.

While the government seeks to give the public a level seven day health service which they promised in their election manifesto.

Observer 2010

Key Tory MPs backed call to dismantle NHS

David Cameron was facing a battle to restore party unity behind his health policy last night after it emerged that several of his key shadow cabinet members put their names to a manifesto criticising the NHS and calling for it in effect to be dismantled.

The Observer can reveal that leading Tory MPs – who include Cameron's close ally Michael Gove – are listed alongside controversial MEP Daniel Hannan as co-authors of a book, Direct Democracy, which says the NHS "fails to meet public expectations" and is "no longer relevant in the 21st century".

Others listed as co-authors in the book, published shortly after the 2005 general election, include shadow cabinet members Greg Clark and Jeremy Hunt and frontbencher Robert Goodwill. Clark and Hunt were unavailable for comment last night.

Gove is also one of a group of more than 20 Tory MPs and MEPs who are cited as supporters of Hannan's views in another book, The Plan: Twelve Months to Renew Britain, published in December last year, in which Hannan and Tory MP Douglas Carswell describe the NHS as "the national sickness service".

Both books call for the NHS to be replaced by a new system of health provision in which people would pay money into personal health accounts, which they could then use to shop around for care from public and private providers. Those who could not afford to save enough would be funded by the state.
