I took hills offer of evens for farage to be the next ukip leader after
he resigned. I also played on betfair.
betfair settled their market within an hour

billys have decided to void their market.

has anyone else been stung and is there any appeal against hills decision
any advice would be welcome.

If I had been a layer on here I would be most aggrieved. I didn't see the market, but as Farages' resignation was rejected, was there any time he wasn't the leader of UKIP for a new leader to replace him?

I think W Hill are correct in this instance as much as it grates me to say so.

You should have had your bet with Pandora.

The you would have known you were going to be knocked before it as under orders.

I TOOK THE

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY
I TOOK THE VIEW WHEN I PLACED MY BETS THAT HE HAD NOMINATED
A NEW TEMPORARY LEADER UNTIL THE NEXT CONFERENCE AND W HILL MUST HAVE THOUGHT SO TO INCLUDE HIM AS AN OPTION IN THEIR MARKET.
I SUPPOSE LIKE ALL THINGS IT DEPENDS WHICH SIDE OF THE BET YOUR ON,

I laid Farage on Betfair, and as ab----t says I am indeed aggrieved.

The UKIP chairman's statement on the website very much uses language that Farage 'remains leader' implying that Farage's leadership was not ever in fact interrupted. It is my opinion that the settlement should be reversed and the market reopened. But then that would be my opinion wouldn't it :-)

Statement is here:

http://www.ukip.org/statement_from_steve_crowther_chairman_of_ukip

The key wording in the market rules is "Who will be the next permanent leader of UKIP? This market will be settled based on the first official announcement of the next permanent UKIP leader". I think it's pretty clear we haven't had such an announcement.

I urge anyone who feels the same way to write to Betfair and complain.

Farage didn't resign.

So he stayed leader.

Not the new leader.

I haven't seen that Hills have voided.

Though if you go betting from Betfair across to the books on such a flaky market then this sort of thing is always a danger.

And the way things are shaping I think Betfair have been ridiculously premature in settling this market - but good luck trying to tell them that!
