tony, it's hardly worth getting your knickers in a twist over.

Even if you find it offensive I don't think most people would.
They would simply take the point and move on.

I'm not sure what you are looking for Tony. Lots of people from comedians to shock jocks reach for an extreme example to make a point. For example, I don't think I've seen you start a thread about Frankie Boyle. It isn't particularly funny because it isn't especially original and when it comes to being offensive it pales into insignificance when placed against the pronouncements of some other people.

What do you expect from a guy like that?

There are plenty on here who try to equate the Labour Party with child abuse too. Which is rather unfair.

A phobia is an irrational fear.
It’s perfectly rational to be outraged by the figures that follow: Rochdale 65, Rotherham 1,400, Newcastle 93, Manchester 650, Derby 27... and on and on, in pain and infamy.
These figures are the recorded instances of vile abuse against girls in Labour areas that rely on the Muslim vote. When tallied up, the tally stands at well in excess of 4,000 children.

It isn't at all unfair united. The reports into what happened are quite clear and the resignations even clearer. I wish it wasn't so. I take no pleasure in Labour behaving in the way they did in these areas so that people who oppose them can beat them with a big stick. I'm greatly saddened that youngsters were treated in this way at all but then there are always sick people but I am outraged that our PC local services compounded and thus facilitated the abuse. That truly makes me appalled.

And yet, you would rather show your bottom in the High St than offer a word of censure to the police force who were supposed to be dealing the matter. Put a Right-winger before a uniform and he falls on his knees to polish its buttons.

"the resignations" - and when did a policeman ever resign, except on full pay?

The same Richard Littlejohn that wrote an article telling the police to leave Rolf Harris alone and go after 'real criminals'

I take it we're all up to speed with today's news, that South Yorkshire police knew about the abuse for years. Does anyone need a link?

Rather than seek to tell me what my opinion is why don't you ask me united? Had you done so I would have been clear and unequivocal. I attach a great deal of blame to the police "service". I actually feel sorry for many individual officers on the front line but from my brief stint within the service nearly 20 years ago I can tell you exactly where I think they were going wrong if you like but to make assumptions does you no credit.

A great deal of blame? All the blame, surely. Who enforces the law?
By:
Eeternaloptimist
When: 05 May 15 18:39
Not all the blame no. Enforcement of the law is only one part of the equation. Even the enforcement can only be done to the extent that the police are allowed to do so and the resources they are granted to do so. Beyond enforcement you have many other factors to take into consideration.

But if there is wrongdoing under the law, it is the job of the police to correct that?

Yes united it is but none of us can say what political pressure is brought to bare on senior officers keen to look after their own careers which then filters down to the bobby on the beat. Murky old business. You should go into local politics.

Interesting EO. You are possibly unique among current and ex-policemen to believe that you are the servants of Local Councillors. Bit early in the evening for that kind of fantasy, I would have thought.

Like I said you should go into local politics. Your ability to take what someone says, change it and then attribute it back to them would stand you in good stead.

Maybe I'm being harsh. Have the responsible South Yorkshire policemen resigned? Or are they still covering their bottoms over Hillsborough?

I would defend Littlejohn's right to come out with such stuff. I have the right to consider him despicable.

You seem like the kind of man who won't take yes for an answer united. Having complained that people weren't apportioning blame to the police over the issue I seem to have offended you in some way by apportioning blame to the police.

It's not about you EO. I've seen Rotherham smeared on Labour, I'm not going to check who said what, I'm happy to read that you distance yourself from your fellow-travellers and bed-fellows.

Let's be clear here though. There is a prevailing ideology at play in parts of this country which turns a blind eye to a lot of goings on within certain communities because it is thought that this will help promote the concept of multiculturalism. It infects all strands of local services but at its heart lies the Labour party. I don't blame the Labour party per se. As we saw with Blair a party will be moved in a particular direction by those who gain influence within it. Unfortunately the Labour party nationally and at local level seems to be in thrall to these people who think they are promoting multiculturalism when in fact they are almost certainly sowing the seeds for balkanisation.
