Stop wasteing that we have got for a start> Shrink central and local government renegotiate PFIs stop feeding outsourcing spivs cut overseas aid get out of Europe reduce NI contributions for the young instead of tax handouts for the rich then channel the money into infrastructure products house building a National Investment bank There may be faults in the above but better than fretting over whether we need a pasty tax or not. |

I would change house building for manufacturing too many people live here already thats why we are in the sh1t in the first place

In normal circumstances reductions in spending would lead to scope for tax cuts. The huge deficit we have means it is the worst of worlds reduce spending and increasing taxes. This inevitably will lead to a contraction. The big mistake the coalition made was to not slash spending at the start. They would then have had a chance of some sign of recovery by 2015.

To few people with to much money,they already own everything they will ever need so no need to spend,failing that get rid of mobile phones for anything other than making a phone call as this is putting most of the service industry out of work in next few years.
My fav (not far of it) everybody forced to retire on a government pension at 55(leaves jobs for all youngsters),all new families only allowed one child.(savings in child benefit,schooling,social services etc pays for pension). I just want early retirement really  |

That's open to negotiation,but would have to be enough for us oldies to keep spending to keep the young upstarts at work.

Or at least small to middle businesses. Family run businesses plan long term, not just till the next Annual bonus. It is THEIR money and the results of THEIR labour so they treat it accordingly. It took centuries of family money and endeavour to build up some of our great institutions, and less than a decade for arrogant, over rated prima donnas to fk. it all up. |

From the sounds pre-election I thought we were in for: a massive reduction in the whole central and local government set up a re-negotiation of PFIs, and an end to the wasteful outsourcing, both of which were an integral part of NL. Next to nothing. The Party faithful feed off the bloated local and central government The Party backers feed off PFIs and outsourcing What the taxpayer thinks is immaterial. |

Long term is getting through to the end of the month for many. It took centuries of family money and endeavour to build up some of our great institutions, and less than a decade for arrogant, over rated prima donnas to fk. it all up. Yep, no doubt in the city there are some clever folk, very few risk a penny of their own. Most are just arrogant, overpaid wide boys guessing at numbers on a screen |
