Very ill with cancer, sad news, but his daughter has tweeted quite recently today that he is still alive.

Was reading on 2+2 that he has cancer of the colon and only days to live.
Sad news. One of the genuine characters of the game.

Read on Poker News that he is in good spirits and fighting the cancer.
Seems there was a rumour that he hade passed away hence the OP.
I'm sure everyone will be thinking of Dave and his family.
Brought loads of people to the game. S
Shows the demise of poker on here with the lack of posts. A couple of years back you would be struggling to keep up.

There's an interview and picture of Dave and his family in his local paper today.
You can see he is ill but he says he's determined to beat the cancer.
He seems in good spirits and was his wisecracking self on what is his 61st birthday.
Hope he sees quite a few more.

He was only diagnosed in February apparently, doctors didn't give him great odds ... saying it was really just a matter of time. The big C is so cruel and damn that was quick, he was 61.

61 way too young. Very sad news. Lots of pics on his twitter page of his baby daughter who must only be about 2 or 3. He was one of the great characters in poker. R.I.P.
